Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Needs to improve his vision and decision making as well as his actual disposal.

He's not a natural in any of the above areas but those skills can be taught ... but learning all that requires a total buy-in by the individual.

His asset is his pace (obviously) but being quick will only take you so far.

But to be fair,  we have a number of players who are deficient in the base skills (AFL standard) Less so than in previous years but nonetheless,  the list still needs a fair bit of improvement.

His 1st involvement in the NM game was a serious tackle, no doubt he needs to recover some of his skills, but he has always had an appetite for the 1% stuff and team 1st attitude. I too thought he was flat after he knocked himself out. Always struck me as humble as well, don't know if that is true or not, but lets get around him and wish him the best.

I never bag the players, and I am quite happy to meet up with any posters to discuss the players and club face to face at any time.

OK, I'd meet ya. You see you bag others for making their personal critiques of the players.  And often the players deserve and need critiquing.  And respond to critiquing because they, are not so thin skinned to be banged up personally.

You wanna meet before or after a game, I'm in.  A quiet beer, or a pie in the face who cares.  You put it out there.   And i'm here.

Hunty was one of the first people out there for pre-season coming back with the first to fourth years, and he's rarely missed a training session. I think he's a bit miffed playing with the reserves after all the hard work he's put in on the track over summer.

I'm hopeful he'll get his confidence back, because when he was playing HBF in 16/17, breaking lines and doing courageous spoils, he was one of my favourite's to watch.

They’re amazing highlights. Fingers crossed he can get back to that level this year.

Absolutely!  I'd forgotten how valuable he can be when he's 'on song'.  His dash and line breaking abilities are great assets, but there's limited opportunity to use them playing out of the forward pocket.  I suspect that he's being 'squeezed out' of our best 22 because he hasn't yet found a position to call his own.  His confidence is consequently down, and he's unsure of himself right now.  I hope he gets it back, because at his best, he can be a 'point of difference' player.

No pie in your face, I was talking about your aggression, so pie referral is to do with my face, if you tend to be aggressiv

I'll meet, face to face, no probs.   I'm in Gippsland, but i have elderly friends in Portarlington, and Clifton Springs who I haven't visited for over a year.  So I need to visit Portarlington before Betty passes.

We'll catchup, and put faces to avatars.

he's been on the slide for a couple of years now. probably needs a fresh start somewhere else under a new coach if he cant find the form to get games this year. IMO he needs to try and reinvent himself as a solid reliable defender again, like when he first started. I remember at times he showed great courage throwing his body in and spoiling strongly down back, running back with the flight of the ball, playing tight and saving goals. but he seemed to get carried away with the more attacking side of his game then that all fell away, as he become less accountable of his man.

and just look at how that all worked out for Frost.

Good discussion here and I think most of us want to see Hunt back in the team with his pace and burst style of play exciting to watch. If he can regain form, he’ll be a great asset, probably used off the bench.  Otherwise he may find trade suitors at year end.

some of the opinions about Hunt have me in the confusion room- again.

can we get some facts involved- i know it takes a bit of work- but it lifts the stadard of the discusison.

Fact 1- Hunt was second in the goal scoring behind Trac last year

Fact 2 - Hunt came 10th in teh B and F, so the club thinks he played better, during the year than 30+ other players

Fact 3 - his 24 so has plenty of time to get better, he is just entering the period when AFL players mature and stop doing some of the silly mistakes - yet a lot of people on this post seem to be prepared to write of his whole carreer

Fact 4 - "the need for speed" is now treated as a premium - Hunt is fast- his skills can get better - slow players tend not to get fast

i for one think he has a bright future at MFC - and that Torpedo is still a highlight for me

His set shot is strangly better than his field kicking.

Set shot kicking is technically far easier than field kicking, the target is much bigger and it's stationary.  The problems players encounter are mostly mental.

TMac and Hunt are 2 players who manage this.

That's an interesting point LN

I would not have traded Frost for what its worth  A few on here also wouldn't have. Not sure why Hunt would be in the gun. The highlight reel is fantastic. Here hoping he gets his attacking game back big time. Exciting to watch

I love Hunty, has some assets that if; used properly and put in a role where he can utilize them; make him a weapon, but looking at the changes we've made under Goodwin he just strikes me as one that could be on the line this year.

Given our well noted disposal and skill problems, I don't think just being fast is enough to keep you safe anymore, which is why I think the Frost example fits Hunt for now. He'll get a chance to show he can be more than that this year, so it's a big year for him in that way IMO.

great highlight reel but just doesn't get involved often enough. He needs to double his output.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
