Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Roos very active with Pittard and Polec, now Tyson.  With Picks going to Alberton, direct swap looks the most likely, or perhaps add a late pick exchange.  Be interesting to see what sort of cap space we save or add by this trade, with Don on 500K

Tell ya what, this is pretty good watching.

Highlights are highlights, but at least he does look very capable and physical.

What has been the problem between him and Norf?  Mental? Injury? Team balance?

too many talls at norf

Some would make the same case for us.  I am not one of them, and more so if Jesse leaves.

The reason we would be so into Preuss is because he's the type of ruckman that would work well in our system. He's really good at using his body to control the area into which the ball falls. He isn't a subtle touch player but he's strong and helps a team with a really good inside midfield.

If Max goes down we're stuffed. But with Preuss we can rest him strategically within and between games and still be able play or style of football knowing that we can attack stoppages. Plus an injury to Gawn won't automatically mean that we can't win the flag anymore.

I'd be touted as a number 1 Draft pick based on my 17 seconds of highlights.

Tend to agree and I will trust the FD to get this right but I have an awful feeling about this one - I fear his lowlights reel would extend well beyond the 17 seconds mark

Has anyone watched much of him in the twos for North this year who could offer an assessment of his ability?

his raw numbers are not particularly compelling: http://websites.sportstg.com/team_info.cgi?action=PSTATS&pID=196455977&client=0-118-0-339767-20320232

great post ?

certainly not dominant around the ground

9 contested marks out of 16 games doesn't say much either.

Hit outs are consistent around 20 per game but he must struggle against the Pies..11 and 8

He didn't play against Casey which is unfortunate for comparison purposes

These are his 2018 stats at VFL level - reasonable number of hit outs but rarely gets a mention in the best players and imo doesn't take enough contested marks for someone his size

If you look at his kicking efficiency  I'd say that's one of the biggest reasons he didn't play in the 1's this year

Big, big punt if you ask me offering 4 years

I'm not sure if this has been posted, but it's a summary of his 3 seasons prior to 2018. I get the feeling that coming from a rugby league background he may not position himself all that well as he rarely gets into double figures for disposals at any level (3 from 8 AFL games)

Didn't mind Mick Nolan as a ruckman.

Apply Max Gawn's training routine over summer, a few sharp drills as a backman, who needs May, after all? He can also swing forward to raise hell. He would easily back up Max. He'd protect the little blokes as a father figure. He is wary of no-one - look at the showreel: Eyes for the ball and capacity to trample those in front of him during a clean mark. He'd be great in a red 'n blue Guernsey.

Positioning is taught and at his size, quickly learned.

Only a season or two ago, Preuss kept Goldstein out of North's team, so he must have talent.

He is certainly a better back up for Max than any of the options we had this year.

However, having both Max and Preuss in the same team might unbalance it. I can't see him playing too many games with Max next season, so I would question his reason for wanting to join us.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
