Ok now that we’re in the back end of January , the disarster of round 23 2017 and associated torture is becoming more and more distant each week. Rather than lamenting and self loathing in past failures , like a true demon supporter , I thought best to channel the vitriol to thinking of endeavours that the football club  (or more accurately the players and football department) can now control , that being ....  how they respond in 2018. As supporters we are at the mercy of the how the players and coaches choose to respond , apart from coughing up our hard earned and signing on again in 2018. Accordingly we can only dare to dream and  I’m interest to hear everyone’s wish list to avenge in 2018

So apart from making finals, clarry winning the Brownlow or the dees doing a bulldogs or Richmond in September  I thought of my top 3 .

1. Dees finally beat north in Rd 3 with a goal after the siren , brad Scott looses his [censored] in the box , despite north again getting a helping hand from the umps. Dees go 3-0

2. Queens birthday , the dees smash collingwood by 12 goals adding to a 4 game loosing streak for the pies. Bucks under severe pressure again and Taylor Adams is added to the jack viney made me cry thread

3. A red hot Melbourne side anilhilate west coast by 80 points in rd 22 severely eroding their % and ending their finals aspirations.

Go dees !

i'll go:

- we win every match on the way to a glorious undefeated season and first run of seven premierships in a row
- we don't just beat north in round 3, we absolutely destroy them - 100+ points please
- we win every match by a minimum of four goals, meaning no mfcss in the final quarter all year

You're kidding yourself DA.  We could be 10 goals up and the usuals will still find something to complain about.

My wishlist is simple - finals.  Anything less and it's a failed season.

It's now or never, really.  The way our list has been built and developed over the last 4 years suggests that finals is the next step.  Granted, it should have been what happened last year but we missed the boat and I'm in no doubt that the players will be using that as a driving force for this year - they won't want to go through that ever again.

I know some will demand more than just finals, and that's okay too, but I think breaking our finals drought and putting to bed further demons (pardon the pun) from our past (that some of our supporter base still can't let go of) will play a massive role in the success we can enjoy in the years to come.

A ten goal plus haul from someone, probably Hogan. It's been a long time since we've had a single player kick a swag of goals in a game.

Only four goals up in the last quarter and I’m staring at probable defeat. The excellent blog ‘Every Day is Sunday’ has a historical number that we have to be ahead by for defeat to be definitely averted. He calls it the Bernie Massey line, no that’s not it, the David Cordner line, nup, the Ragnar Lothbrok line? Whatever it is called and however many it is, 24 points isnt enough for a MFCSS remission. Seven goals perhaps?

I think this may be what you're looking for fndee.

To breeze by the Pies claiming a 95pt QB win claiming Buckley’s (coaching) scalp in the process and after a very public media breakdown (eddy) Fat Head fall in his sword.

I'm with you. Belting the Dawks from the first bounce to the final siren!

Perhaps also for Lever to restrict Walker to 0 goals. In Adelaide.

And then for him to fist pump the air on the final siren, followed by belting out the Grand Old Flag with gusto in the sheds following the win on national tv.

There is great literary, philosophic and extremely esoteric meaning in these words, and these come from a long way back in a time when most things were quite straight forward, including umpiring, Well said, Dedogtor.

Thanks Skuit - that’s it, the Chris Sullivan line. 7 goals plus.

As for revenge I wouldn’t be upset if Melbourne beat GWS in the GF with unfashionable Cam Pedersen breaking a Tom Scully tackle to kick the winning goal.

...breaking a Tom Scully tackle and his leg to kick the winning goal?

If its a dream list, you might as well dream big i say.

Would be good. I'd rather watch 'The Ghan' than some of our performances in the NT.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
