Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Cause for optimism?

I had some free time and called SEN yesterday to specifically ask David Schwarz one question that’s been nagging me for years.

I know he has a son and was wondering ( hoping ) if he had the makings of a prospective father/son nomination in a few years time

David was very honest and admitted that whilst his son played football , he was only 12 and pencil thin , thus not monstering opponents yet .

On the positive side he WAS projected to grow to 6’6” ( in the old measurements ) and The Ox hoped he’d be good enough to play for the mighty Dees eventually.

We can live and dream? because realistically there’s no other superstars in the recent history of the club that we can hope for similarly gifted offspring.

That’s what I like about the ox he says it as it is with no sugar coating it.

Hopefully his son comes on in a big way for us.

Hopefully he comes on for himself and Theox - whether it’s football or something else I hope he does well. Theox was one of my all time favorites and I just hope his son has more luck than he did - not exactly an easy path

if he was able to play for our beloved team that would amazing

What a champ was the Ox.

Tall, mobile, great mark, great kick.Supreme  talent curtailed by injury.

No wonder Collingwood offered him a fortune to change. But he remained a Demon.

Still is a Demon.

Ron Barassi offered him 1mil to join the Swans in the toilets at the Brownlow.

(no matter how many times a rewrite that it still sounds dirty)

Our Schwarzenegger was a champion.

In 1994, he was as good as Carey. And Carey was one of the greatest of all time.

I was behind the goals at the punt road end, when Schwartz twisted and his knee went.  We were silent.  For the rest of the game, it was a blur.  I think our future went out the window. He was a sensational CHF.  We were seeing another Demon cursed.

His courage to play on was amazing and whilst he was never the spring heeled CHF, he was a loyal champion Demon.

He's a club legend/favorite son. Bitter sweet reminiscing his career, but i still love doing it.

As a fairy tale it would be nice if he's son could play for us, but i'd rather concentrate (eventhough it's not your point) on our current No 5 who I think is the greatest talent we've had since the great Schwartz.

Love the passion still(always) there for David! Red & Blue.

If his son can do anything like his old man could then I think we'll be pretty happy.

Long time since ive seen this. Rudolf Nureyev he was! I remember Schwarz and Nietz, 5 and 6, i couldnt believe we finally had these two huge players and all the marks they took. Thanks for posting WB.

Gee joeboy Jack Viney not good enough for you, and Joel Smith just needs a bit of luck

Kobe Farmer for me if Dad can prize him away from the hoops

Would hate to be young Stot, would be crucified if not as good as the Ox, great footy player, awful media person

Todd Viney and Shaun Smith were not superstars.

Why don’t you bother to fully read and comprehend other people’s posts?

Serious question.

he was still a great player after that third recon. not a superstar like he was destined to be, but still very good. We've actually lacked that exist type of player since he retired.

Love the Ox

He still keeps good contacts within the club.

He was filthy like us after Round 23

I would like it were he to spend some time with Jesse and Weed ( and maybe Tommy) advising and encouraging even if not in any formal capacity.

Prior to the knee reco he was going to be one of the best players to ever pull on the red and blue jumper.

He was, at the very least, a superstar at the end of 1994.  It's a shame to see you not giving him the credit he deserves.

He would have to throw a freak. Geez he was good. Before the knee he was something else. Really unfortunate we will never know how good he could of been.

From his highlights package, during the last term against the Dogs he had 25 touches, 12 marks and had kicked 2 goals.  The Ox had a massive tank and would do a mammoth amount of work to not only kick goals but set them up as well.  Lyon kicked 10 that day and he had a hand in many of them.

It's why I'm still super excited to see Jesse get a full pre-season under his belt as I believe he can play this exact role for us going forward.  He doesn't need to hit the scoreboard each week in big numbers to have a positive impact on the side.  Schwarz was exactly the same.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
