@Hogan2014 I hear what your saying. Mind you, they do a review from a saturday match every Monday - so not sure what is new there this week. Further - you'd hope the FD have been documenting themes throughout the year from those areas listed to address...not just think about them and appraise after round 23.

That is not an official website - it is someone having a sick joke.

If there was a press conf of any sort the announcement notice of it would come from the club.

Ignore it, someone is trolling.

I forgot, Nathan should be enjoying his mad Monday.

rather than an apology - a more constructive response would be answers surrounding - what happened... and actually detail it (rather than mediaspeak of we will review it) - and what steps from a physiological, psychological, structural and coaching perspective need to be addressed.

This.

Dont need an apology. But do need a committment to learn from this disaster.

Actions speak louder than words ......... the next two and a bit months will tell us a lot imo.

No one needs an apology or a review of the season of why they fell short.

It's plain for all to see.

Build a bridge.

Lets look at the facts. Yes extremely sad that the team failed on the day, Performance on Saturday bad!. But over the 4 years we have gone from only winning 2 games to now winning 12, and playing really good football. Interestingly its the old guard of players that really didn't perform as well on Saturday. What I find is that Melbourne supporters seem to always look at the negatives .. oh its been so long ..oh I'm going to rip up my membership , boo hooo!!! When  most other clubs support their club for decades not even getting into finals. This is a new club,  new players new mentality new everything. We should be upset, understandably but proud as well. You lot were happy to have a bunch of naffs naffs running the club for years, who did so much damage to the club, the way it was run, the deals that were made., hat you guys cant even see the work and the achievements over the 4 years. Yes the team on the field let us down. Its simple as that. Now take a breather, either be fighters and have a back bone and support the club or else don't bother because you fall into the same group of naff naffs that ran the club as their own country club including players for years - gone by.

Your wording suggest you are not one of US i.e. a plain old supporter. Not sure what your post has to do with whether or not a statement is needed

All I'd like is something to be said "off script", and not AFL-player speak.

Doesn't have to be an apology, just say something that actually has some meaning for goodness sake.

Calls for an 'apology' from the club?

"The club apologises for winning 12 games this season, being two more games than last year, which in turn was three more wins than the year prior, etc. We sincerely apologise for such progression from just two wins for the season only a few years back..."

Here's the copy and paste effort they are sending to those who emailed the club;

"Thank you for taking the time to contact the Melbourne Football Club.

It’s a desperately disappointing way to end what was a very close season. We’ve missed the finals by the smallest margin in the history of the game.

With regard to the Collingwood game on Saturday, the effort in the first quarter clearly wasn’t there. Simon Goodwin has said throughout the year that we must respect the competition and that didn’t happen with our effort or intensity.

Everyone at the Club is hurting and reflecting on the missed opportunities both from Saturday and the rest of the season and we will be for some time.

12 wins is progress for the Club and the most games we have won since 2006. We’ve also seen significant development of our younger players - Oliver, Petracca, Hunt, Viney, Brayshaw, Salem, which is a great sign for our future. We are fundamentally still a young and developing team. This experience will make us stronger, we will learn from it and use the development to become a better team going forward.

We understand your frustration and disappointment.

Thank you for your ongoing support to the club we appreciate your feedback."

and not that anyone will find it palatable but Essendon just went from LAST with 3 wins to 7th and finals. Yes..I know..THAT club...but  their lightning resurrection and rise...is a ....FACT

Anything MFC comes up with is will be all but laughable in that context. Best they say nothing imho.

So why aren't members being sent this?

Why isn't a leader looking down the barrel of the camera and saying this?

All the supporters want to know is that they're hurting as much as we are...

Feel like the supporters and members are owed an apology of some sort from the club's leaders. Players, coach and lets not forget our 'high' performance sport science team.

Won't make me feel better but seems like we are owed something. I will likely renew my membership before Xmas again for the 26th year in a row but it won't an automatic decision and not with the same enjoyment and optimism.

Is it just me?

i know you are hurting like us all but are you saying over the past 11 years you have been more optimistic than now?  we almost folded a few years back!

This is the only thing that concerns me right now, the rest we have heard time and time again.

Why didn't it happen?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
