Spencer seems an obvious choice but understand that Grundy is a very mobile ruckman and will run him hard, he may not have the fitness to go with Grundy and if not we are one down.

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't come in.

I'm interested to see how Goody handles this one, there are arguments both ways and I don't see it as a certainty.

I trust we will get it right.

with watts having a niggling ankle injury he needs to be kept out of ruck duties. another reason to bring in spencil if he passes fitness tests

Bernie returns Adams' serve: "It might be (used as a motivating factor). What is he (Dunn) at a successful club now, is he? That's the first I've heard of it but we might be able to use that one as a bit of motivation. Not sure what he's done at Collingwood yet though." http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-06/is-he-at-a-successful-club-now-bernies-swipe

Straight to the point!

Adams has dropped Dunne right it in.  The flack is directed at Dunne and he hasn't said a word.

Ah well, glad Bernie fired it up a bit.

Great marketing ploy for the game, well done gents.

Cant wait for Dunny to bring out the fake tough guy routine and "rough up" Watts and Garlett, in fact I think he might be scared of our Jeffy.

Wonder if Bernie will tag Treloar or maybe Pendles

Bernie Pendles, Viney Adams.

Gee wiz they do have stacked midfield. DeGoey, Treloar and then the old sheepdog on the wing.

Salem has to come in, Stretch a chance?

Given Spencer was out with a shoulder, he should have been able to keep his mobility fitness up and maybe even improve it..?!

I stand corrected but i would think it would be more to their advantage to tag Viney with (2) Jones (2) and Oliver (3), which does not leave anyone to go up in the ruck, handball outside, or run into the Umpire for them. Such is life.....

We will  be favourites for the match, normally we lose,so on that basis Collingwood really is the favourite. I expect Hogan to play,I think it is a ploy to state otherwise,I also expect Collingwood to do the same. This match is a mini elimination final, loser tanks for rest of year and pees off their supporters.

The notion we lose when favs is wrong.

Rd 2 - favs Vs Carlton - Won

Rd 4 - favs Vs Freo - Lost

Rd 6 - favs Vs Essendon - Won

Rd 7 - favs Vs Hawks - Lost

Rd 9 - favs Vs Nth - Lost

Rd 10 - favs Vs Suns - Won

Won 3, Lost 3 - so the commentary around we lose every time we are favs is rubbish

He might be but there's another concept to consider.

He's not good enough to match it with Grundy and not footy smart enough to go with him...

Just a thought.

...another thought, @Webber can you keep up your running when rehabbing a shoulder???

Flying down Friday and back Tuesday, can't bloody wait. My partner will be attending her first AFL game, very excited.

They will have 22, as will we.

Will our 22 beat theirs?  That is the only question.

Flying across from Perth for the game. Hoping for a good, solid first quarter.

Will know within the first 10 minutes if we are on. If we are then we will win comfortably - we are better than they are!

I really wanna see Trengove play in the seniors, even just one more time.

You could call it 'wanting to get closure' on a very dark and challenging time for the club.  If he plays and stinks it up, great, I'll never mention him again and he can happily play out his 20s with his mates in a quiet suburban league.  But part of me yearns for that promise and potential that we saw in those early years to be fulfilled.

Totally agree.

The word I am getting is Hogan still a likely starter. He is fit, wants to play, but faces a mixed view from footy department on whether he is mentally ready and physically conditioned. It will come down to selection committee on Thursday. There may also be some gamesmanship going on here.

Thats what I am hearing. It's from the top. Its by no means absolute. Just what I am hearing.

Happy to be smashed on here for giving gossip on a "gossip site". Personally I find it entertaining. Knock yourself out!

Looking forward to some apologies.

Yep. Jake would have had very little time off running, certainly not enough to compromise his aerobic fitness. Should be cherry ripe in that regard.

Love it GNF. I can feel the angst from the non believers bubbling away as we speak (figuratively speaking, so to speak). Won't be long before the angst spills onto DL.

Start him dees. Great foxing. And if they don't, still great foxing and you still have me on your side GNF.

Still two training sessions to go before Monday. If hogan trains fully he plays. Good of the club to take the pressure off him.

Thanks 'Webber'...much appreciated.

Lets hope if he gets a game that he can at least bring some pressure to bare on Grundy and give our mids a good shot at it.

If you haven't already seen it on the Club website and or received your email, the special pre Queens Birthday training session is on again on Saturday. Training starts at 9.30am and I can guarantee it will be cold. The usual hot coffee, hot sausages, Demon Shop and Mascots will be there. So fire up all you Demonlanders and get down to Gosch's. The players love it when supporters come and watch training.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
