Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We can't play 4 quarters and our mid-range players are not good enough. I'll join the chorus of this questioning why JKH gets a game - slow and no skills. Also Bugg and Hannah are backups at best. Anyone that can kick needs to come in e.g Stretch.

Is it just that we are a shortish side, or that we are not used to taking marks due to the amount of handball we do, we are woeful at taking marks above our head!

Why I continuously let this soft team ruin my weekends is beyond me.

18 years I've watched us get destroyed by Burgoyne. Why the [censored] don't we man up? And why oh why do we insist on being the dumbest bunch of players who handball to stationary players?

We have no leadership, no killer instincts. We let a team who is down and out come out and destroy us in a half because mentally we are weak. And it doesn't help that we are too [censored] stupid not to have 9 players go for a pack mark and NOBODY STAYS DOWN.

I can understand inconsistency but I can't understand stupidity. We do the same thing over and over again and we don't learn.

I know posters are mixed with Stretch, but we really missed his run and decision making today.

He needs to come in next week.

Lot of parallels with the Dog v Tigers in the game today. Dees had a poor 1st qtr same as dogs, Both down by 30 odd points at half time. Resurgent 3rd Qtr to get level but unlike the dogs the Dees did not bring it home. Can't put my finger on it but we seemed to lose the impetus of the 3rd qtr whereas the dogs kept theirs. That big red head for the Hawks was good in the last but we had all the momentum. We did not respond in the last minute when the hawks had 2 or 3 extras down their backline . On field awareness may have been lacking.

Hawthorn may be rubbish this year but they still carry a stack of premiership and winning experience which obviously Richmond lacks.

Playing catch-up footy is never a good thing but it always seem that, when making a comeback, it makes a massive psychological difference to get the lead, even if only by a point. If we'd hit the front (e.g. when Jones missed), I think we could have gone on with it.

Just now, Watts the matter said:

JKH.......how long can this go on, never should have been in the team to begin with.

Bugg not up to it.

Hannan would be OK if he could kick or handball, but he can't.

Thought Viney and Tyson were good.

Would love to see Hogan run and jump at the ball instead of always engaging the body, makes it to easy for the third man in.

Lewis was ok in the end but that non-attempt at  a tackle in the 2nd on Rioli was a disgrace.

Jones started terribly.

Frost was fairly influential in the end but had a shocking start.

We managed to make Tim O'brien look like Nick Riewoldt and played Roughead into form.

Salem poor today, dropped marks and a loopy handball that stood out.

Totally agree with this, he seems to be a bit of a 1 trick pony and third man up gets him most times.

i feel like we haven't figured out the best way to deliver into the forward, our forwards play from the front and we kick it over their heads, they play from behind and we drop it short. And how many times did we kick it directly pinpoint to a hawthorn fool how was just standing there filling in space?!

One positive was Frost.

The rest was messy, scrappy, solid efforts with little composure.

Adelaide by 88 points next week.

The same Adelaide that was down 64 points to 0 at quarter time? Righto.

This competition is ridiculously even, more even than I've ever seen it. The only club I fear at the moment is the Melbourne Football Club.

Sigh.  Another close loss, one we could have avoided.  It hurts.

I don't think we were undone by a lack of effort in the first half as we had more disposals, more clearances and more tackles as well.  We just played into their hands and allowed them to pressure us into mistakes.  They sat off us, allowed us to stuff it up and pounced.  It was vintage Hawthorn.

The third term was when we changed tact, and credit goes to Goodwin for that.  His changes made a huge difference and we played some of our best footy all season.  Then we once again allowed the Hawks to dictate terms and we lacked the composure to stop it.  They chipped it around and then kicked long to contest where one of their talls jumped in from the side and marked it.

We are a better side than last year but we still lack that killer instinct and ability to make changes on field to rectify a bad situation.

Credit to our leaders in the third term as they willed us back into the contest.  Frost was great, even if Roughy got some cheap ones, while I thought Hogan made a positive return and Pedersen battled manfully against McEvoy.

On the flip side we had some passengers, with JKH standing out.  He has to be dropped.  Hannan did a few good things but was quiet, while Salem was also quiet today as well.  Bugg is another player who I can't recall doing anything positive.  Changes will be made.

I have zero expectations next week as the Crows will come out firing.  I'm worried about that game but hopeful we can stand up.

All four losses should have been wins.  Couldnt even steal one or two of them though. Steal just one we are in the 8.  But no, we blew all 4 games.

WIll always be a team of losers. The club is nothing. Whose home game was this? Ours but we let the Hawks put all the signage up around their race. No other club would let another team do this. We are pathetic

Amen. Bugg is garbage. Stretch has game sense and can kick a footy.

Also Kent in JHK out.

Its almost worst being close. In frustrated by the club playing individuals not up to AFL as yet or ever.

Weids and T smith were picked over Pedo when we needed experience. Everyone called for JKH to be dropped but it never happened. What's his role apply pressure or get a few goals? Its a serious stuff up selecting him for the last 3 games. No excuses.

A few things.

[censored] we were bad in the first, but we did work our way back into it.

Some of the missed frees were abysmally but didn't affect the game

Leigh Matthew's is a biased [censored] who is losing relevance by the day.

BT is an absolute [censored].

Hamish Mc is clearly a Hawks fan as he was livid at one point and could hardly talk.

I really hope foxtel tell Ch7 to get [censored] in all games and [censored] off theses tosses in the com box.

Viney was good

Jones got better

Oliver was good

Hogan was good in patches but needs to chase harder (can forgive him at the minute but it needs to change)

[censored] you you mother [censored] arse hole hawks. You can all go and shove you head up each other's arses you bunch of arrogant flogs.

So I should not watch the replay?

Max Gawns injury has cost us the season

I think this gets lost in amongst the negatives.  Their talls can dominate us and, even if we win some, inevitably they'll take some strong marks or repel our forward entries.  It really hurts and the fact we are battling on so well is a credit to our boys.

The last minute we had the opportunity to bomb straight into our forward 50. Vince wins the ball and handballs to Hibberd in the middle only for him to handball to a stationary target.

Exactly why we have been a dumb football side for the past 10 years.

Lets be honest ...seems like we have a dud coach................ For most of that game i thought Mark Neeld was coaching.

I know you're trolling, but at least put some quality in it.  His changes after half time changed the game and showed he is a forward thinking coach and one who isn't stubborn and stuck in his ways.

I'm disappointed with Goodwin as coach mostly because we have lost our defensive edge completely. I lost count of how many times Hawthorn were streaming forward in packs unmanned.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
