Nice dig.

You could alternatively have just congratulated me on my astute observations. I called it with Garland, who you defended at all costs.

I'm not writing him off as a player just yet, (although I'm not confident in the same way many are on here). But obviously, he is not playing to the level required.

Not a dig, just fact.  Big difference.

Gotta feel sorry for T Smith. Thought he would surely be given more games while Hoges is on the sideline.

Michael Walters in doubt for Freo would be handy if he misses or isn't fully fit....they haven't got a lot of scoring power. It'll be depressing if Cam McCarthy and Shane Kirsten carve us up!

Especially McCarthy with that ridiculous hairdo and god awful moustache.

Fair dinkum, does the bloke own a mirror?

He's played like 20 games. How many games into Garland's career until you called it quits for him? Which mind you isn't over, he's injured.

Taken Daniher's spot as my most hated played based solely on looks.

I just said that it's not that I think he won't make it.... I'm completely aware of his age and therefore the time he has. Garland's story is completely different given his age and experience.

The only similarity is that I wanted them both dropped due to their game-day performances at the time.

And it's clear I wasn't the only one who saw it that way.

Weid is extremely lucky, and I feel for Tim Smith. Not sure what Bugg offers to the structure of this team.

But more than anything, I'm elated that Goodwin brought Frost into the team ahead of O Mac after just 1 practice match. He clearly sees the game the same way as a scant few on Demonland. There was more into his comments after round 1 about O Mac being left isolated, than most on here thought.

Hannan & Harmes fortunate. Trengove named as an emergency. Would be great if he took either place. Little to lose and Trengove brings experience.

I expect Bugg to do a run with Role with Stephen Hill or Brad. I see Stretch going to B Hill and i reckon Bugg will take the older Hill.

They were given too much space last week against the dogs and i doubt Goody will let that happen against us.

Pressure for spots is great.

I doubt Oscar is disappointing match committee, more-so they like what Frost brings and Oscar is the direct replacement because they don't want to play both.  They would have explained to Oscar that he's doing well, but there are still areas he needs to work on.

I'm liking the selections this year far more than last year.

How good is the depth now! Close to the most injuries/suspensions yet the last 2 weeks we have been able to select players that mix it up/change the team in ways that is unpredictable to man up. Loving it!

I hope Bugg plays well enough to keep his spot just so he can terrorise Richmond again.

Track is the most important bloke in our forward line at the moment, and thank c they haven't figured it out yet.He gets the ball and the power cost goes up by 20% while he has got it in his hand. My opinion based on instinct, gut feeling and b's##t.

Few people made to look stupid swearing Oscar would never get dropped this week.

We might look stupid, but I don't feel it.  This is all part of the fun of being a mug supporter with no idea about what gets discussed behind closed doors.  It's what I enjoy about the banter on Demonland.

I'm very surprised - but more than happy to run with "if you say so Goody".

Not sure what talls freo have up forward but could frost back up spencer?

You'd hope so. Watts v Sandilands could get ugly.

OMac will be back you can guarantee that, but for now Frost gets his chance so good luck to him. I'm gutted that we'll be without Big Maxy for so long but Spencer had a very solid pre-season so I'm backing him to fill the shoes adequately.

Bugg's a surprise, but good luck to him.

We obviously lacked positional flexibility last week with Watts forced into the ruck, and so Frost and Bugg in help to address this. But with Spencer/Gawn and Frost/Omac as like-for-like replacements, is there a possibility that Bugg will be playing a role up forward in place of Tim Smith?

There's been a lot of talk about structures over personnel, so I'm not so sure that Goody has suddenly brought in Bugg for a run-with role against Freo at the G'.

Second worst haircut in the AFL behind Dennis Armfield

Agree with this. Armfield looks like a deadset d1ckhead.

Have to confess to being surprised by the Frost inclusion. Not because he's not up to it, I'm a fan, even though he has a long way to go. But he's coming off a long injury lay-off, and has only had, what, ½ and 3/4 of two practise matches at Casey.

Still, presumably the selectors think he's ready.

Smith a bit stiff, given that he wasn't the only forward who under-performed but so be it. With Hogan due back next week, Hannan and Weideman would need to do a bit better this match than last.

I wonder if they were so disappointed in Oscar's form that they rushed Frost back or whether it was a sign of how high Goody rates Frost. It could, of course, be a mixture of both.

I think a few saw Bugg's inclusion but even fewer saw Smith's omission

Looking forward to what should/ better be an easy win on Saturday.......  about time we had one.... hard to remember the last one ... perhaps last round 2015 against GWS but that didn't really count for some reason

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
