Ok OCD...

Melbourne injury (suspension)list: round 18
Christian Salem (hamstring) – test
Dom Tyson (knee) – test
Jack Viney (plantar fascia) – test
Jack Watts (hamstring) – test
Nathan Jones (quadriceps) – 1-2 weeks

Thanks Paul

The great thing about these 5 stars being back is they were all out for around a month or less so in theory they should not take too long to adjust and start playing strong footy - unlike Gawn and Hoges

fingers crossed no more injuries and the stars could really align for us and we could hit form at the right time

Would be very pleased to see Watts, Tyson and Viney back in the side this week.

Am a little concerned by how quickly Salem has gone from '2 weeks' to 'test'.  Given his injury history, especially recurring soft tissue injuries in rehab, I would expect the club to err on the side of caution and give him another week.  He's very important to the team and we risk losing him for the season if he pings it again.

Agree with several posters above- we're finally looking like getting something close to our strongest 22 on the park in the coming 2-3 weeks.  This thread has gone from doom and gloom to bright and sunny almost overnight!

I could understand Salem being held over for an extra week if Tyson, Watts and Viney are all available. Adding four players all at once who have all missed multiple weeks with injuries is itself a risk.

makes sense but would you start one at VFL for a half? Probably not as none have been out for a really extended period.

Perhaps Hogan would have benefited from a half at VFL level to blow out the cobwebs.

Anyone got any info on Max? He was supposed to be on 'AFL Game Day' this morning but has been replaced on show as has an ankle problem. Didn't go into any detail

Think he rolled his ankle. He did play out the game but looked sore,  likely had a jab to get him through the match.

Pat McKenna is a worry. Pinged a hammy in Round 2 and will now miss the entire season. That was after hip, achilles and knee surgeries while he was at the Giants.

Lotta love for Misson. Really business like, positive reports.

Things not going well for Mitch White. Without the rest of the season to prove himself, it could be time's up for him.

Those words would've got you shot down very quickly 2-3 years ago!

I feel confident Gawny will get up, I'd be comfortable with giving Jones another week. We've got the Giants after North so I'd rather him be right for them.

We've had a very interesting year of injuries but with a bit of luck things could come right at the best time. I really hope I haven't put the mozz on us now!

Can whichever one of you nutters who took time out of your day and went to the trouble of writing to Misson about his mien please follow up with a missive requesting a chronologically-ordered injury list? Chur.

We seem to have had our fair share of injuries (and hiccups in recovery) in recent years. This area of the club seems to have been relatively immune to changes and I haven't noticed any really improvement over the years. Teams that do well in finals typically go through years where they have good injury runs but I don't recall ever having such a year at the MFC.

Is there something more the club could be doing to become elite in this area? I suspect there is. Is Misson and his approach still a good fit for the club?

I agree. Misson and co. should have reinforced Hogan's collarbone with a steel plate before he took to the field. Poor planning. And I hear the anti-oxidants in rooibus tea are good at preventing cancer. I don't know why they persist with water on game day.

It's an AFL thing, they do it for all teams in alphabetical order for some stupid reason.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
