I feel weird, and have all week.

When the Saints were in the GF, I didn't like it. I hated them. I hate them. I didnt want them to win. I admittedly preferred a Pies and Cats victory.

But the Bulldogs...I loved that they were in it, and I loved that they won.

But...

I'm sad. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Could be because they've written the fairytale script, taking the polish away from other teams wishing to do the same in the future. No fear though, our script will just have to be better.

Yeah, it feels like a fairytale. Like it's not real. I do believe our script is just as if not better...but whether or not it ever comes to fruition.

According to Wikipedia, my old mate B Russ once said that envy was one of the most potent causes of unhappiness.

Our time will come. Maybe. Hopefully.

Almost well put Pra just lacked a bit of vitriol. ( see my slagging of Bob Murphy) Yes I agree, I am [censored] it was the doggies and not us.

BTW ignore Biffen the hypocrite is out selling drugs to doggies supporters.

The pursuit of happiness is the cause of unhappiness. Sums it up for me.

I feel a bit odd about all of this. I couldn't give a flying fruit bat about any other team to be honest but this is the happiest I have  felt in all the time I have followed footy.

Do not feel down in the slightest way.

The Dee's had their best year in a decade and the Dogs got up for a fairytale win after a drought of 58 years.

what is there to be down about.

Not down at all.

Rapt that the Dogs have broken a huge drought.  While the players are too young to have experienced it, this will mean the world to so many supporters and club administrators, boot studders etc. The one who best bridges the gap between the old stalwarts and the new playing group is Bob Murphy. For some reason he is such an atypical representative of the west, but his heart is rooted there.  Bless his loyalty.  Long may he enjoy this time on top of the world.

I get what you're saying, but no, I'm a footy fan and love good football and good football stories.

Very happy for the Doggies and all their supporters. Today isn't about us.

Nup, not remotely sad.  Didn't even feel happy for them, I felt happy *with* them.  I felt a part of that victory like I never have for a team outside Melbourne.  Great day, great game.

And for me, it was the first sign I've seen in a long time that you don't need to be a power club to win the flag.  It brought the dream to life for me.

Spot on old dee.  Fantastic way to round out a very pleasing year.

It was like a changing of the guard this year, Hawthorn dropped out early, Geelong were shown up as pretenders, Sydney were walloped by GWS and were only there because they played Geelong to get back in the game.

Sydney were beaten by two teams in the finals that were brutal and hit them with everything, that's what they normally do to other teams.

There are other teams on the verge of the top eight like Melbourne and St Kilda that are on the improve and sides like West Coast and Adelaide that seem to be treading water. If we can improve our list a bit to fill in the missing pieces we can have a real rivalry with the Bullies and GWS, it's up to us now.

You're having a bad day at the keyboard today.

Lay off the alcohol, and calm down. Have some water or something.

Mmmmmm .. I'll concede the year had some pleasing aspects, however, the [censored] ups against Carlton and Geelong left a very sour taste.

I'm not sure where we stand atm. We are certainly a long way off any of the sides I've seen play in the last 3 weeks.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
