That's great news.  I think he's a great player to help our list going forward.

Just as importantly however is keeping his presence and leadership around the club. He's a popular, highly respected figure in the playing group, and cutting a person of that calibre after what he's been through can be like poison to a playing list.

Go Trenners!

The club must obviously believe he can continue to improve. Good on him.

What's his most pressing need to work on over summer? Tank and speed?

These would be a priority, maybe with increasing the penetration of his kicking

Like every other player an injury free full pre season, the rest happens

While I agree, I would still love to hear of him working with a sprints coach

Nice one! Well done Dees.

Whatever you think of his playing it is the right call by the club and Trenners to take whatever the offer is up.

Bring on 17!

He missed nearly two years of footy, worked his arse off to get back, and whilst at the moment he can't crack the AFL side, I am sure Justin Plapp is pleased with the performances he is putting in at Casey, he will know where his deficiencies are and work on them, like every other player

I'm sure he will know. At least let us have the discussion

Delighted for Jack and delighted that our great Club has done the right thing by him.  We've come a long, long way as a club since Junior McDonald was pushed out the door.

Well done, MFC. Also loved Roosy's words in his presser about both former captains.

I don't think Jack will make it, but I'm much happier giving him another contract than some others.

As the OP says too. It's the right thing to do. I like that we're repaying the loyalty he showed us.

I disagree I reckon he needs a good solid preseason (uninterrupted) and will reap the rewards in 2017.

As I said in the Trengove thread on the trading board, this is the right decision.  Deserves at least another year to have a fair crack at it.  If he makes it, then it's amazing.  If not then no harm is done.  Plus he continues to bring experience and leadership to the younger guys on the list as well.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
