Jeez Boomer is very stiff.. Il probably get shut down for this but i would seriously consider picking Harvey the same way GWS did with Stevie J..

Harveys Leadership and outside class would easily get us to finals next year.

Averaging 21 a week, 7 score involvements a game and has kicked 34 goals for the season. Still has the pace and class we so desperately lack.

The cake is built now with solid inside midfielders and good young talls. Unless we are into a shane edwards or pearce hanley harvey is a must get. Lumumba retires and Harvey assumes his spot. We'd get a heck of a lot more out of boomer than we have the prince, and we would start winning those essendon and carlton games. Even if boomer were managed through 18 games and missed the trips to darwin and perth, he'd be a great pick up.

With respect to the timing of the announcement, the club is in a difficult position. Obviously they've told the players concerned, so keeping it from leaking would be hard. After all, those four players need to start looking at their own futures whether it's as a player, coach or something else.  Once they start doing that, it would be virtually impossible to keep it a secret. If it leaked, the club would be harshly criticised for not coming clean. All in all, I see no other option for North than announcing it now. (Of course, they could have avoided that by not making the decision yet. But if you've come to that decision, is it fair to keep those employees in the dark? I don't think so.)

And it's not like they are going into the finals as one of the favourites. It may be that the announcement may be the "kick start" that the club needs to turn their season around.

Wow... seems outright idiotic to announce now.

All 4 have played the whole season and done their jobs.

Gonna be awkward when those four are the only ones who stand up in their final.

I wonder how much of their top-10 B&F are being shown the door at once, too?

Crash time, North.

Aside from onfield benefits, It's also a PR dream recruitment for marketing department. He continues breaking the record and doing photo shoots in the demon jumper. Keeps us in the spotlight putting pressure on the AFL to give us better fixtures. Maxxy & Boomer, the new loveable couple.

I love seeing other teams lists disintegrate.
Boomer is usually the difference in our games so this is good for us.

Awful timing to be honest, and just 4 weeks ago the club was celebrating their favourite son...funny how fickle this sport can be.

Right call on Petrie & Firrito and I would have added Waite to the list also.

Harvey is a stunning call and I'm also a little shocked about Dal Santo.  Thought he was still producing very solid football.

And I hate the guy, but must admit that I'd take Harvey in an instant.  Get Kent & Kennedy to follow him around the training track for the year to learn off the best.

As I have said on other threads previously, I would seriously consider looking at adding veterans to round out our list provided they didn’t come with outrageous salary demands. While I older players get slower and their production declines, I feel that clubs are making dumb decisions to cut older players who are still playing good footy. It makes sense to offer veterans a one-year deal as they don’t cost anything in terms of draft picks and only take up a list spot/salary cap space. Steve Johnson has been talked about as a potential All Australian this year and has been a bargain. Geelong should rue the decision if they come up just short this year.

Harvey (92 Supercoach points per game) and Dal Santo (90) are both still in North Melbourne’s top six players statistically and are still playing good footy. In comparison, we have only Gawn (121), Viney (98), N Jones (98), Vince (94) and Tyson (92) ahead of them.

Can't stand the guy but Boomer would be a much better role model than Stevie J....

Would he add anything to our long term success? by this I mean would he leave a legacy or just one year of good footy?

I guess this is the Q 'dazzle'.

I 110% agree, if you look at what our team desperately needs, he hits most of those things, he's quick, skillful, extremely dangerous around goals and would finish top 7 in our B&F next year.

i would be very surprised if someone doesn't grab him, imagine what Kent, Kennedy, Garlett and co would learn off him

Timing makes sense, last game at Etihad this week.  Next week probably back against the Giants in Sydney - likely game over.

Yes and no - sends a poor message. " we are out first week of the finals so come and see them off whilst you still have a chance".

That may be so but you have to cut the cord, eventually, otherwise your list will just stagnate. They now have 4 spots on their list and there will be others, so the can rejuvenate their list, let's face it the same players dominate their top ten every year and that's just not sustainable, they will always remain middle of the road if they continue that way.

And no we don't need him.

Every 1st and 2nd year players will be rejoicing that Ferrett-o has been given the ass.  He's a thug of the highest order, and will break any rule to go out of his way to belt a young player.  Admittedly he does it to slightly older players too, but the weak pr1ck picks his targets, which are generally those smaller than him.  Utter dog.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
