I applaud your bravery in starting this thread Dazzle.

FWIW, as a free agent, if the price was reasonable, I would sign Vickery. He would instantly be our best option as a part time ruck, part time forward.  As maligned as he is (and often deservedly so) his best football is very, very good.  Maybe a new environment would bring that out of him in a consistent fashion.

We sacrifice nothing in free agency other than some money; if the price is right, I say get him.

Perhaps people should go over to The Punt Road End to see why they are willing to give TV away:

some quotes:

"I'm still trying to work out why anyone would want to sign him."

"I have been thinking similarly, Jinx.
Can't fathom why any other club would contemplate signing him given his under-performing career at RFC.
Vickery is a depth player at best ... and even that's questionable, in my opinion."

"When he plays well he's pretty damn good.  It's just too infrequent.     Even this year when he's played crap he's still kicked more goals than Griffins".
"True, but then Ty doesn't stray more than 25m from goals."
"For me it would be enough just to see him *smile* up someone else's forward structure "
As others both here and on the PRE site have noted....he will not ruck and he refuses to lead and run as a forward......

The arguments against Tyrone aren't dissimilar to Watts until 12 months ago. Has the tools, is inconsistent in application and is a confidence player who has shown moments when you think the penny has dropped.  Is exactly the type of player we need and would not cost in trade as Free Agent. Under free agent I would be well open to it and back our development in.

Vickery can take a grab

i 'll give him that..

One of the most unlikable players in the AFL.  But for a 3rd rounder Ill take him and say thanks to Richmond for giving him the 100 games he needed to get comfortable at AFL level being a 200cm KPF/ruck.

Three-way swap whereby we get a 2nd hand set of golf clubs could be the go!

I'm pretty sure he is a free agent?

Maybe we could win him in a vickery auction?

Has the tools as in what Watts has? Not even close.

Not the same tools but has the right technical attributes to be a quality player. Has kicked 3 goals on 4 occasions this year which underlines he has ability. Is an excellent set shot kick and moves extremely well for a 200 cm player. Its all in his head and as a free agent would be worth the risk/reward for a position we clearly don't have covered.

The problem with Vickery, like Dawes, is that he has no inclination to be a 2nd ruckman, so he doesn't address a need.

Vickerys a free agent but I would still do that deal - they can have Grimes too

Neither did Tippett from memory.

The market for him might be stronger than people expect and the tigers can force a trade if the compensation isn't good enough.

All up that could mean paying a lot for a C grader who might give us a few years before the game moves past him.

I'd rather get a D grader (ie. Dawes, Pedersen or a delisted player) and go in a bit short at one position until fixing it properly with a quality player either via trade or draft.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
