CASEY SCORPIONS v SANDRINGHAM

Simple fact is he was rated 20-30 by most experts. We took him at 9 because he was 'tough'.

Not sure if you remember seeing him play, but never showed anything of note. Brad Miller showed a lot more from day dot.

Brad Miller would always lead well and take good marks but on most occasions he seemed to then try and pass it off as he didn't have the confidence to line up for goals himself. To me he also had unrealised potential.

Hulett was impressive. He gathered possessions in defense as well as up forward, he marked well and competed well. The best game I have witnessed from him and the first time I have felt confident that he will make it to the next level.

In reply to question about whether Hulett is ready to replace Dawes, Demonlanders provided the above answers. Come on, guys, this isn't good enough. How will our selectors know who to choose if we can't provide them with consistent advice?

We need Declan Keilty and Tim Smith at the Dee's. Keilty is 21 and is improving every game. Is versatile and can play in multiple positions. At 25 Smith is a great mark and kick for goal. Would do well playing next to Hogan.

Agree Declan Kielty I was very very impressed with this guy! Sheeit he is better than a few playing ones at present! Make that Period!

Can anyone name one club that said they would have taken Cook in the first round? Most of the creditable draft watchers had him 25+. Terrible pick.

He was a stab in the dark by a recruiter that didn't know which end of the knife to hold.

I think there was some talk that North would take him with their first (late teens i think theirs was), but most mock drafts had him 20s-50s. I felt sick when his name was called out by us.

Why would you even try to defend such an obviously bad selection? Do you just like to be contrary and argue for the sake of it, anyone with any knowledge of football knows he was a massive failure and it wasn't between the ears it was simply a lack of ability.

Who is defending?

I said his issue was between the ears, he had natural ability, did you watch him as a junior? I did

I was just pointing out to some of the posters on here, who obviously have been picked up by clubs desperate for recruiters who get every decision right, stuff the lack of development, that some considered Cook a late 1st round pick

Not sure it has been mentioned, but Casey recruiting Fevola set Cook's development back considerably IMO.

I saw the Geelong v Casey game on the same day as the 186 debacle. Casey went in as favourites. It may have been 4th versus 4th bottom.

Fev played FF with Cook in the pocket. The few times the ball entered Casey's forward line Fev demanded the ball be passed to him, and rebuked any team mate that failed to do so.

Casey got belted (a ten goal to nil first quarter didn't help). Cook hardly managed a kick. Fev was dragged (I can't remember the reason, but he certainly wasn't a team player)

Just sayin'

Wow, those numbers tell me Pedo did enough to get a game this week, yet nobody seems to have rated his performance. Deceptive stats? Perhaps a goal or two may have got him over the line, but with Spence going down in 1st quarter he would have played mostly ruck?

Every time I look at Weideman, I see Michael Newton. Same build with those broad shoulders, same running gait.  I am also worried that Weideman, like Newton is just a straight line, mark & kick player.

Seems to lack agility, lateral movement & aggression.

Gee, I hope I'm wrong.

Pretty sure your Wrong

Ive seen a bit of him live and on TV

He's smart and courageous just lacks size and strength  he will grow heaps over the next twelve months

his father and grandfather had the best builds for   Key  position players  you could ask for

But what do I know

aways thought  Juice would make it LOL

3. Hulett will play senior football this year. Probably the last two rounds like we did with Oscar last year. They'll probably get him to play the forward/2nd ruck role. His improvement as the season has gone on has been impressive.

Angry and wayne- has Hulett actually done any relief ruck work?  Looks a monster physically?

Hasn't needed to, with a combination of Spencer, Pederson, Max King and Keilty there this year, and at least one of them generally resting up forward.

In hindsight was that? Suggest you go back and look at some of the posts that were here, hypocrisy is raising it's head again in some of the posts re Cook

As Demon Dave said, he hasn't needed to, but did a bit of it in the under18's.

Would be worth seeing what he's got to offer IMO.

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Megg

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
