After last night's game surely Jayden Hunt deserves a Rising Star Nomination.

Great stats last night.

His metres gained stat is impressive considering he's played only 12 games.

Couldn't agree more, he reads the ball so well and cuts off a lot of oppo attacks. Coughs it up a bit but is getting better each week, he can take a knock as well!! Go Jayden!! Go Dee's

Hunt will be a star. Given he is a little older I am predicting that he doesn't drop off in the later stages of the season.  If he continues his increased output then he may poll higher than expected in the rising star. Should have got a nomination last week and I am hoping he gets it this week. His meters gained last night was terrific.

He is so relentless at the ball. His kicking still lacks a bit every now and then but I just love him as a player. Like the kick out that he stuffed (when OMac was injured), he went full tilt at the player with the ball and got in then won the free.

He's been good but Mills has been consistent since Round 1. Don't rule out the AFL PR Machine awarding it to Aliir Aliir in multicultural round

Jayden is fast becoming one of my new favourite players. He is so exciting, fast and keeps trying.

He is an extra ingredient that we have needed coming off half back. Someone who can break the lines and penetrate into the center square to set up forward 50 attacks.
We now need some of the outside running that Toump was supposed to have given us. The kind of bloke who insures that teams can't just put numbers around the ball and suffocate us. Add that element then watch out.

Mills was good as was Hunt. I'd say Mills gets this weeks RS nom I'd say.

That's too easy. AFL Head Office should make its PR machine find a way to explain how Jayden Hunt has a solid multicultural background. That's a challenge worth paying them for.

Hunt is great. He provides the run that the Prince tried to (unsuccessfully).

I dub thee King Hunt, first of his name, successor of Lumumba.

Will be as important to us in his position as Jesse Hogan.

Just needs to learn to slip back from 5th the 3rd before he kicks...and he will.

The Rising Star winner has already been nominated.....

You can't win if you get nominated this late. It's what makes the award a joke.

True. In the usual desperate PR effort to have an exciting news item every week, the AFL makes a nonsense of such an award.

Round 9 last year Jesse Hogan, no it's not too late. 2014 round 9 Lewis Taylor. 2013 Jaegar O'Meara round 5. 2012 round 12 Daniel Talia

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
