I've been one of his biggest detractors, but he was close to our best player in the first half.  He was terrific.

Faded in the second half, no doubt, and that error at the end was bad, but if we based things off an error like than then many of our players wouldn't get a gig either.

Calling it now that he'll be in the side again next week.

You could tell by the look on his face after that goal, he knew it too.

Just now, Clint Bizkit said:

He was very good in the first quarter but to drop the ball like he did in the last is simply inexcusable.

Seems to work pretty well for Dawes and Hogan in getting regular games.

Every player makes mistakes. We lost that game because we collectively sucked in the last quarter. We failed miserably defensively as we have on many occasion this year.

Care to elaborate? I didn't have a chance to see or hear the game so I'd like to know why you think his career might be over. To post as you have is somewhat simplistic. Or, to put it another way, are there any other toys you want to throw out of the cot while you're at it?

Pathetic thread. One fumble trying to take the game on after it is over.

Most reasonable posters on here have been critical in the past, but can see he is serviceable at the very least this season.

Surprised we didn't see a similar thread early in the game for Hogan when he coughed a goal up switching play, or Bernie's handball that led directly to a goal, or OMac's dropped mark early in the game.

Maybe 'Allen' got the wrong player???

There is a certain key forward who surely doesn't have a lot of time left...

Maybe switch "game" for "season", but even then it is hard to gauge.

Until we get more serious pace onto the list there will be a place for M Jones.

I'm a hater-but the Jones boy done ok today.

Nup, he wasn't worst by long way, he might get another game next week although I'd prefer Oliver or Brayshaw

Thought he was ok but on top of the fumble also had a couple of other costly turnovers that resulted in goals.

not best 22 once younger mids are ready but serviceable depth for mine.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
