Swans might bring in a ruck and Sam Reid, so the 3 defenders stay. 

Wagner's made a few mistakes but I can't see him going out for Grimes. Grimes is a midfielder/wingman now. Should never play again at half back. So unless Grimes came in and Bugg went back I can't see that happening.

Mitch White might come in for Wagner if he was eligible for promotion from the rookie list but as far as I know he isn't.

 

It's his 2nd game in 2 years. Gonna take him a few more weeks to get the speed of the game back

There's probably six players who will be discussed as inclusions this week - Spencer, Harmes, Garland, White, Garlett and Matt Jones - but realistically Harmes is the only chance of getting a gig and at the end of the day I reckon No Change will come up.

The three players who missed the party today were:

Jetta - it ain't easy having to play on a guy who is 6ft5in when you are lucky if you are 5ft11 and that's what he had to do most of the time on White.

Oliver - still hasn't quite got the knack of when to run and kick instead of his usual give, but he kept working and laid quite a few tackles.

Stretch - he was quiet, but he still made position well and laid a few big tackles, so it would be a big call to leave him out.

But there's no doubt this is a huge game for us and our last chance to do it for Roosy against his old side. For some reason I reckon we are just about ready to do it too.

I believe Trengrove needs 6 games or so on the trot and then a rest if required. I say this because if we can get a B+ or better player for next year out of a player who many had written off it can only bode well for the future. The only way to get that player is to give him a sustained run. Of course he could build up strength at Casey but then we will still not know if he is "back" as we all hope he will be.

You are right mate.  Hurt his calf in the reserves and will apparently miss the next 3 weeks.  Would have been the logical replacement for Tippett.

Looks like Rohan may get up for this weekends game as well.  Hunt will be the perfect opponent for him.

I like the idea of no changes but it's a six-day break, interstate, against a top-2 side. Surely by now we've learnt our lessons with these shorter turnarounds, the more so given we're going interstate.

I suspect one of Wagner and/or Stretch might be rested this week though I don't think anyone really should be dropped.

9 day break before the game and bye afterwards though. Reckon that cancels it out.

Would like no change, but Roos and Jennings have both stated that we struggle with 6 day breaks due to fatigue. Wouldn't be surprised if we make 2 or 3 changes.

Him vomiting right in front of me would suggest otherwise. He looks spent and is enjoying long periods of time warming the bench. 

He is a gun but we need to push Sydney in the middle to have any chance of winning. Already we are carrying Viney with one hand, Trenners who hasn't played for 2 years, Tyson who was cramping in his hammys, Vanders who has been out with injury for a while, and Stretch who is a sub 20 game veteran. That is a lot of players who are not at peak condition. Against one of the oldest and most experienced midfield going around, it could really cost us.

I agree 100%, They talked the talk before Port and chickened out and it was a disaster. They need to make some changes just so they can take a fresh side up there.

I agree with that, but I don't think it's best for him or us for him to be in the team non stop as he gets the pace of the game back. Just like a young player going to Casey where he can play full time in the midfield and get 30 touches is probably good for him. Finding a role in the midfield or at half forward in the AFL side probably won't come before he has a few different cracks at it.

If he stays fit between now and the end of the year I can't see him not getting another year on the list and a chance to do a full preseason. Time will tell, but right now I don't think him playing another month at half forward/wing is going to achieve the big break through. Time will tell.

Fresh legs need to be a priority. After both games where we've had the short turnaround, we've seen our defensive structure fall apart and goals out the back become a massive problem. This week's selection is huge.

Matt Jones might actually be closest to a game of those who didn't play in the 22. He'd give us the other wingmen alongside Stretch, so if needed we can throw Bugg back/Vince midfield if needed and give us another speedy running player to get out in space. Stretch can play as the high half forward as well. 

The balance between strength and run seems to be our biggest issue against top teams at the moment. With so many young players it's hard to do both.

If we are bring in fresh players then Grimes is the ideal replacement. 

Experience and hardness would be ideal for Sydney.

But, you two, who  deserves to come in who will offer something better than we have.

Nev had an ordinary game, but that was by his standards, and it is his only bad game in a long time. 

Sometime, on some ground, against some opponent Spencer in to allow Max some 'rest time' up forward - and how good was he around the ground with second efforts and forward marking - but probably not this week.   JW did reasonably when rucking today, and somehow Roos managed to get Dawes into the ruck a little.

I noticed in the Casey game on the weekend Grimes seemed to come off very early in the last or maybe even late 3rd and didn't come back on... Did not look injured, I wonder if he is already been considered for the trip to SYD due to the 6 day turnaround ??
