If Viney plays (I doubt it) then maybe it will be as a defensive forward. He would certainly increase the tackle count in the forward half and lock the ball in.

Not the worst idea I've seen, rjay.  He could have short stints on the ball as well, but keeping him up forward means keeping him out of most contests and takes the pressure off him a little.

It's fantastic for us if he plays as I'm sure he can wear something protective on his hand.  The Pies will try and niggle him but that will only serve to fire him up even more and push him to have 40 contests possessions.

Not super convinced, He is a ball winner, I dont like having contested midfielders forward of the play. It's taking a big threat away from collingwood. If he was an outside runner then sure that would work but not with the role he plays. If he can't play his normal role then there are plenty banging on the door for spots that deserve to get a game.

Whose job at the club is it to decide whether playing could aggravate the injury or cause longer-term damage? I hope they're not leaving it up to a character like Viney to self-report. And the question on which knuckle he injured is pertinent - is it a base knuckle or a middle one? Trying to mark or handball with an injured base knuckle is excruciating, especially of the middle or index fingers.

I for one think the idea is just this side of looney. A fractured knuckle will just be mending at 2-3 weeks. Why would you risk it ?  Seems daft
