MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 11

So far this season we have experienced both joy and disappointment - WLWLWL etc. Given the trend and the switched on mindset I'm expecting on the return to the G, I'm expecting a pretty good jolly old showing.

Human beings are a unique animal.

Steve, as a species we include crazies, nutters, loonies,  demented, bonkers, daffy, daft, screwball, psycho silly, insane and you and me. I have never attempted to jump over a charging bull in a black devil suit with a pitchfork. (me, not the bull). I did attempt to water ski naked through flames at midnight, on the Murray river. We used too much fuel and set fire to about 1km of shoreline, it took us about half an hour to put out spot fires, but that's not crazy, .....is it? Oh, and I rode my motor bike down the wall of the Thompson river dam, well rode is a bit strong, perhaps a graceful sliding elongated crash. And there was.......... no that's another story but I'm not crazy.

One wonders what the team can do this week in the face of a Hawthorn which most of the time manages to hold firm even without such vital team members as Luke Hodge and Jarryd Roughead. Pray that it will be another twelve and a half months before they meet again, I suppose.

Hate to say it but it will only be 9 weeks!

They do everything we don't.

Hawks by 55points

To be fair though, they've done things many teams don't for a long time.  We are but just one face in that crowd.

I expect us to get rolled, but I also expect us to play better than we did last week.  Hawks will probably win, in the end, by 5-6 goals but it won't be a smashing.

I've acid tripped with a north eastern Congolese militia General and then proceeded to have a target shooting competition with an AK many years ago. Probably the most bizarre thing I've ever done.

Does that classify as crazy?

Yes.

I was among a group of people too drunk too drive home, some bright spark suggested that if we all sat on the roof and drove the car with our feet through the sunroof then we could not be charged with drink driving, after all it was only 20km though mountainous roads, what could go wrong? Nothing as it happens, but the car required major repairs to the roof. Is that crazy?

Oliver will be back. so 5 best 22 out.  or 4 if you think Garls isnt best 22.   injuries starting to add up but this should be an excuse

Anyone else want to see Vince play on the ball for the full game?  miss his class, toughness and influence

Cheers for that, now you've got me thinking, how many games have Angus and Ollie played together....

Probably more entrepreneurial and hopeful than crazy, Mandee.

Sounds like something you'd pull after a sesh on the billy.

This will be interesting. I can't see us winning, but anything under 6 goals would be a good result. Hawthorn are due for a good performance, so anything up to a 20 goal loss is possible if we don't select the right side,  and / or persist with stupid tactics and / or don't come ready to play. Hopefully all the C graders that have been clogging up the team sheet for the past month are shuffled back to Casey this week.

This is Misson's injury report this week.  http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-06-01/trio-set-to-return-this-weekend

JKH appears to be available for VFL this week.  Great to see him playing again and hope he has a solid injury free run to show his wares again.

H is listed as 'indefinite'.  Even allowing for the necessary caution it seems really serious.  Can anyone remember the incident when the injury happened.  A terrible injury to deal with so will be good just to see him on the foot field again.

Gus is tracking well and may be back before the bye but I would imagine it will be in the VFL.

If we bring the same intensity we showed in our wins, along with taking our chances in front of the sticks.. I think we'll go close in having a big upset. Hawks are far from their best at the moment.. Took them 3 and a half quarters before they could shake the Lions. The Dees have thrived this year as big underdogs.

Dees by 5 points.

I'm tipping the hawks to have a really off day and for us to play out of our skins.

Hawks by 18....goals....

The glass is always half full, cracked and leaking when it comes to Melbourne with me, they've killed my belief!

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
