Jack Viney's square off on Rance

Recommended Posts

Three down to two. Tick. (*)

Now, will he decide not to come back? My "Bye" still stands.

(* although the 'coward punch' - from behind / no warning - discussion is compelling. I've also been thinking of Phil Hughes's injury, given the part of the head and the pointiness of elbows)

While i love the shot of Viney, The snapshot of Watts on the ground just laying there as if he has been shot dead is a haunting..

Use to respect Rance but you are an absolute coward!

Rance 1.94cm 93 kilograms Jack Viney 1.78cm 84 kilograms. Huge difference in size but Jack absolutely threw Rance around like a rag doll not just once but twice. Strong as a bull is our Jack.

Interesting. So Hogan has 8 kgs on Rance. I think most of Rance's power is across the chest, so he has small legs, which means his centre of gravity is in danger when a guy like Viney gets a hold of him.

Dog act by Rance. Twice. One for the hit on Watts, one for taking a fall. It's no wonder the timid tiggers didn't stand up for Rance. 2 weeks accepted - so he should of.

Viney was magnificent remonstrating. Leading by example with and without the ball.

I think Rances attack of Watts was one of the worst instances I have seen.

As bad as the attack on Watts by the Collingwood triumvarate in his first match.

The biggest difference was that Viney came in and remonstrated with Rance immediately.

Previously Melbourne players  did not even raise a whimper in protest at Watts manhandling

Thank Goodness Viney was ferocious enough to stand up for his mate. I hope he told Rance that the treatment he had dispensed was as disgusting as it gets and that he wasnt fit to wipe Watts boots and of course more. Had he been reported  probably would have given the AFL away I am pleased with the outcome and hope this is just the begginning of a new demons

There was nothing bad about that whatsoever.

Ok.. That's going way over the top.

A gang tackle isn't even in the same league as a coward punch.

Because of Rance's centre of gravity, Viney with his knowledge and feet in the open right position was able to move back to balance himself after the initial contact and forward movement. Rance was always on the defensive.

There has been a lot of media attention over the Rance, Bugg  and Viney incidents. In THE AGE aside from a front page banner there are three lengthy articles relating to Sundays game.

What a silly old coot. Can you imagine the outrage if that had happened to one of his players while he was coach? He would've been out for blood.

As if you needed anymore evidence as to what an out of touch, hypocritical imbecile Malthouse is.

If I ever had a positive view of Malthouse, he has just sunk it below the waves.    The Tribunal already has past-history in its calculations, but apparently if you are a top player the rules should be different.

(BTW, people can believe whatever they want, fairy-tales and spaghetti monsters included, but I don't think a parent whose religion prevents him from giving his kid a blood transfusion can be called a 'model citizen'.)

Coming from the guy calling out to Milne from the huddle then lying about saying anything...  Top bloke for comment on what is acceptable or not.

Seriously. Not even joking.

I heard him this morning, and he honestly sounded like he'd lost the plot a little bit. Not just in what he was saying, but he was almost incoherent in trying to explain it.

Also called Adam Maric a "cheat" for trying to claim a goal that didn't come off his boot. Seems to have a pretty skewed morality ol' Mickey Mouse.

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Megg

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
