Hopefully there is a good chance that Jack Trengove will play this week against Port Adelaide.

Especially with Bernie Vince now suspended for 2 weeks for his silly misdemeanor.

I openly admit to being a bit of a Jack Trengove fan so fingers-crossed he DOES play this week?

We believe in you Jack! I hope you play on Saturday at the MCG and prove all those doubters wrong!

Yes, Vince is out but remember that Tyson, Viney and Watts are likely returnees.

Much as I love and deeply admire JT and his efforts at returning to the big time, where would he fit and whom would he replace?

Really needed him in the clearances tonight...

You'll get to see him in the clearances at the end of the year. :(

This is just a hypothetical here so bear with me, but....

We know JT is a FA this year and has the option of walking come seasons end. And, whilst most of us agree that the previous month has presented as the most fertile period for Jack to get a trot given the injuries and consecutive 6 day breaks, the club has not taken that opportunity.

We are all miffed but are we over-looking the most obvious reason some players do not get played?

Has Trengove already played his hand and told the club he's leaving at seasons end? I could then understand the resistance from Goodwin to play him at all this year.

Plausible?

Then why can't the club state this and congratulate Jack on the attitude and endeavour he has displayed. They could note that he continues to perform at a high level at VFL level despite no longer being part of our future

Both would be very costly. I think Jack has been a Melbourne listed Casey player  all this year.

Superannuation payments i would call it.

Starting on the bench. Great to see him finally make it into the team! Best of luck Jack!

Very happy with this, I admit I'm a tragic, and spew every time someone calls footy a business, but 3 jacks in your hand, is a strong hand!

Stoked for Jack.

Hope he puts in a blinder.

Awesome, glad he gets a chance.

I'd love to see him play out the year and lock in a new contract.

Well done trenners

Stoked for him.

What a fairytale it would be if he played great , stayed in the team and ran out for the Red and Blue in the finals.  He deserves it.

if that happens he will get a nice contract extension too.

Edit -  I just copied almost exactly what Abe said, I hadn't seen his post though, promise.

I'm surprised he gets a run, but excited to see him do well.  He'll know this is his last chance, so hopefully he can fill a role for the side and show everyone that the game hasn't passed him by.

Good luck, Jack.

Great stuff, very glad to see him back and he definitely earned his place.

Hopefully the start of a rejuvenated career for Jack.

Very happy for Jack, I was worried he'd go the whole year and not make it out on the G again.

I'm thinking that Jack will move into Lewis/Vince's role as a half back general sort of thing and Lewis may move into Vince's role as a tagger. Salem will be back in the half back line as well for some class and we've got to Hunt and Frost to break the lines.

Really looking forward to seeing him out there again, would love him to snag a goal and seeing him arm in arm singing the song at the end. Along with Watts and Jones I don't know that there's anyone that deserves to see success for Melbourne.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
