Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I guess the question now becomes whether he's good enough to be picked up by another club at seasons end. He's an FA so that will help his cause to an extent.

Got no doubt he'll be an assistant coach to an AFL club when goes.

I have given up waiting to see trenners get another game. If ever there was a week to play him, it was this week.I really had hoped he could go around for one more game and try and prove to the world he was the jack of old.

It's over for him at the MFC, and it that hurts to admit.

If he was picked people would be complaining hes too slow and that he cant kick over 40 mertes.

Hes not in the side for a reason, and hasn't been picked all season for a reason.

He will continue to be an important player for Casey.

Yeah look, you're probably right... but similar things were being said about Pederson for the first five weeks- not to even mention Liam Jones.

Officially ruled out by Goodwin (quoted on twitter by the club). Said he has things to work on.. Those things namely being requesting a trade to a club that might give him a game, not just rub up against him while the club has its period.

A great example of the soft underbelly of our supporter group.

Anyone who can't see that Jack is finished as an AFL player, should not offer comment when he is denied a game.

Todays game is run/spread, Zone/defend your area, then run run run when you have the ball.

Jack has great hands, a good football brain, but nothing else of value in todays game.

Try to control your emotions when he is inevitably delisted at years end.

I don't see Trenners getting a game anytime soon, but I also don't see the argument that this would have been the week of all weeks, and thus that this specific non-selection equals a definitive card-stamping. With Jack's current deficiencies, I would much rather see him come into a midfield with proper strength and support, rather than be brought in after so long for a core leadership role with pace and impact issues against a challenging Carlton unit.

You mean the challenging 16th placed Carlton?

So its against a Nth that we haven't beaten since rd 20 2006, or the last placed Lions?

If Trenners needs to be protected against Carlton, he has no future with us.

I think hell fet a game at some point. Sad it wasnt this week. Cards are marked though

Great training report indicates thought that he is again not going to be considered.

I do feel for the bloke  and admire his attitude. I assume and hope that the club are communicating with him in a truthful fashion and just regret that there maybe cannot be more transparent inclusiveness with supporters.

i appreciate that this weeks game is now more critical ( as will probably be the case for all games) understand that we cannot experiment with Trenners but would like a more descriptive indication of the deficiencies that are prohibiting his selection. However I also understand that this explanation may well be counter productive to a future career strategy.

So good luck to him and hope he continues to play to the best of his abilities and enjoys the accomplishments he has achieved.

Card. Marked.

If he can't get a game now, he most likely never will.

Our midfield depth must be at its nadir right now - and even now he cannot get one game in.

Sadly the pace of the modern game has passed him by.

You should drink some of your own bath water with regards to that last paragraph.

Most of the People who would like Jack to get a game are not outright advocating it. Much of the debate has been surrounded by the information we know but it stops at "Jack is on the cusp of selection" and "he's working on a few things, he knows what he has to do."

The absolute fact that he's been listed as an emergency a couple of times suggests that he's getting close to whatever Goodwin is talking about.

He's been moved around the ground - most likely in part to add the extra elements to his game. I hope it results in a senior appearance before seasons end because it would be nice end to his time at the club.

I get that the game style is making it difficult for a player of his make-up to break into the 22 but again, he's listed as an emergency so anything is posssible with a little more effort.

I think the puzzling thing with Trengove is not only whether his form at Casey is adequate, but the players that have been preferred to him.  Clearly in retrospect elevating White last week didn't work, and this week we appear to be rushing back Joel Smith, a guy who has played only one quarter of AFL followed by a 3 month layoff, and only one returning game at Casey.

I think Goodwin has done a great job taking over the reins this year.  The only area I have a bit of a query is the selection of older players - the preference of Weideman and Smith to Pedersen earlier in the year was hard to understand - if we had Pedersen in some of those close losses may have gone our way.

All in all re Trengove I don't think any of us know how he would go back at AFL level.  That's why it is worth an experiment.  Perhaps he will be a pleasant surprise like Pedersen was.

I'll be fine pal. But if we get rolled bcos of turnovers from the likes of Wagner and the lack of inside grunt. I'll know why.

Some good points there Razor

At the start of the year I had the feeling that Goodwin was coaching for next year (2018) and that this was a building year where we would end up at the 7-12 bracket.

The topsy turvy results by all teams has meant that in a perfect world we could snatch something.

I agree re Smith but there is obviously something there (like Hannan) that Goodwin can see for his game plan.

Lynden Dunn is perhaps another example of the Trenners, Garland syndrome ... gets a game at Collingwood but just didn't suit our attacking game style. Interesting to ponder whether Garland would have got a game this year if not injured.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow and then onto Darwin.

I don't really buy this line.

It's a sport, a game - it's supposed to be about emotion and passion.  If you don't love players on your list and ride the ups and downs with them... you're doing it wrong.

Well, this.

But, I was referring to Carlton's midfield unit, which presents particular challenges. Although, I'm sure you knew that, as Trenners has absolutely zero chance of breaking into our half-back line.

Exchange Carlton for whoever you like, and the sentiment remains the same - I think he'd be better suited coming into a strong midfield than being thrust into the mix as a primary driver.

If he has any future with us, he needs to be managed as if a new recruit. Return to the bolded statement. My point was more that his card was stamped some time ago, rather than as a dawning conclusion of his non-selection this week.

Indeed, I think it would have been likelier that he would be getting a game around now and over the past couple weeks had Jones, Viney and a cast of others not been injured, as a suitable rotation for player management.

Thank you for realising how obnoxious your post sounded. Footy clubs are built on passion. Everyone knows Trenners is up against it, but we all wish him well as an ex-MFC Captain whose career was cruelled by injury.

I was certain they'd play him this week. We need a big bodied mid given the strength of carlton's midfields. Probably gonna be a slow deck tomorrow anyway. Perfect for tren.

As am aside,  I think he's best as a half forward flanker.  Has great hands, and nice set shot for goal. Was originally recruited to play forward i think?

Problem is he needs to compete with Petracca Watts Hannon etc..

I haven't seen him play vfl much but he's regularly in the best from what I'm reading. Can't question his character. I don't think anyone is here..

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
