Were we too hasty in delisting Fitzy?

With the reigning Premiers likely to pick up Fitzy, we're we too hasty in delisting him rather than either keeping him on the list or using him as valuable trade bait? He may have been a good straight swap for some of the players that have left Hawthorn in the last week seeking other opportunities!

No we weren't. His time with us was up, especially with the additions of Oscar & Frost.

He was very good at VFL level this year and I thought was good in two of his three senior matches despite tunnel ball.

I thought he could of been useful steak knives for a trade, but didn't see him with us for 2016.

I wish him well. Always liked him.

He was one of those players who only showed form prior to signing a new contract. Then disappeared again. Too many of those in the past and some still around. I am glad he wasn't given another opportunity to make good so that he could slack off again once he got a new deal. No doubt we would have been stuck with him for another couple of seasons. If any club want him then that's his good luck.

Fitzpatrick has been a better defender than forward and we have better players down back.

Max King is the same height as Fitzpatrick and is a far better prospect in the forward/ruck role, albeit he's 1-2 years away.

It just might be that Hawthorn are more deficient in some areas than us. Cheney had better prospects at Hawthorn and Adelaide than he did at Melbourne.

It's all about list balance.

Hawthorn need depth, and won't be flush for cash. Fitzpatrick is cheap, fills a potential need.

We should have looked at trying to trade him last season , someone may have been interested. Either way not too fussed about this, out of interest what kind of chips were on offer, and would we have had a half eaten Mars bar thrown in to sweeten the deal?

Nah that's a no to delisting Fitzy too soon, we would never get any more out of him that we were getting, if he takes the next step at another team good on him but it was never going to happen with us.

We've delisted or traded plenty of players over the years who didn't kick on at all. Morton, Maric, Petterd, Blease... the list goes on.

Fitzy falls into that group. We weren't too hasty at all.
