The game is changing quickly and the Demons' run with warrior is out of fashion and out of favour with the selectors. Jordie managed only one game in 2015 and has been delisted.

From what someone posted on here years ago Bails was a huge rap for Jordie as a kid. Maybe we were heading the wrong way long before Neeld took us over the abyss.

The standout performer during pre-season according to Saty. Amounted to 1 game.

I think he can say he gave it his all during a tough period at the club. He can be proud of that.

he is missed.

Was going to make a post all in past tense, but even though the drums are beating, he's still on the list, so I'll hold off.

I'm a big fan of Jordie, and love the way he goes about his footy. That'll do for now.

I wish Jordie all the best for the future. He's been a great and loyal servant of the club over the last 6 years, unfortunately (as mentioned in WJ's review) the game has evolved past his capibiities as a player.

I remember meeting his dad on a tram en route to the footy a few years back. Aside from having Jordie's red hair, he said that his son loved playing with the Dees and always gave his best effort, never leaving any stone unturned. Even today, I would find it hard to disagree with that. He can certainly hold his head up high after giving his all during a very turbulent era for the club.

Cheers Jordie.

It remains incredible to me that a bloke who is slow, poorly skilled and doesn't get enough of the football was given a three year contract, presumably on decent money. Thanks for that, Neeldy.

That said, Jordie was a much better player in his first four years than some around here give him credit for, and he probably deserved more than a quarter of senior football this year to save his career.

Thanks and good luck, Jordie.

Go for it, it's not a long way I imagine and you'd do us all a favour if you succeeded.

A shame that blokes like you and DD can't find it in themselves to say something nice about a bloke who gave everything he had and stuck by the club despite better offers.

Needed things to go right for him but he was unlucky enough to join a circus. And as Jack said, the game moved away from him. Great guy, loved the club, left nothing behind and struggled with chronic injury.

Thanks Jords and all the best.

Why would you presume that?

And we weren't exactly overflowing with solid bodied stoppers. You can't be revisionist about these things.

The bloke rightly had a mortgage on the coaches award for a few years. Jordie has squeezed every last bit of talent out of a body that really has no right to be playing AFL footy. Whether you want him pulling on the red and blue or not it is impossible not to admire him

I like Jordie for the same reasons I liked Simon Godfrey

I am a computer philistine so I can't post it here but YouTube Jordie Mckenzie smother or my favourite tackle that makes me laugh, Jordie McKenzie tackle rnd 14 2011 and check out his desperation on tackling Dusty

Whenever Jordie walks out of the club for the last time he will be able to do so with his shoulders back and head held high

I have huge respect for Jordie McKenzie, and there are two things I'll always remember about him.

1. Very early in his career, during the club's brief glimmer under Bailey, he was a berserk tackling and chasing machine. The vivid memory is of a particular terrific tackle. The ball was spilling everywhere, was gathered by another opponent who was momentarily corralled by another Demon. Jordie leapt over another player on the ground in order to make a flying impact tackle on the other opponent.

2. He was the only player who really performed in the '186' debacle, contributing in all four quarters and finishing with 25 disposals and 8 tackles. He deserves the credit of being left wholly untainted by that day's shame.

EDIT: Thanks to fndee pointing to it, I've found the footage of the tackle on youtube so here it is;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0juYA2aDN6Q

He's like one of those clinging toy koalas they sell at souvenir shops, except flying through the air.

Also, there's a nice clip of a smother, another little reminder that the guy knows how to commit his body.

No true Melbourne supporter should think themselves so high and mighty as to criticise this bloke and yet complain about how our players don’t try.

Jordie has the right attitude. No doubt about it

It is a real shame his foot disposal let him down so often

In his first game Whorethorn smashed but Jordie never gave up. The reason i stayed to the end of that game.

Always gave everything. Even shut down big opponents. Shut down Ablett a couple of times from memory, just doesn't have enough offensively.

Well, he's officially been delisted.

Honestly, I think he'll be the only player I'll be sad to see go this off season. Loved the way he went about it, always gave his all and kept trying to improve his game. Unfortunately, the game has once again changed, and his set of skills, imperative only 5 years ago, is on the outer now.

Thanks for all your hard work, Jordie. You did all you could to get the most out of yourself, and we can't ask for any more than that.

I, personally, will always hold you in the highest regard due to your attitude and application. Hold your head high, as you were one of the few who can stand tall having been through one of the darkest periods ever experienced by a football club, and not being disgraced (even in 186).

All the best, and hopefully you'll continue to be an upstanding MFC person.

Well done Jordie.

If every player on our list worked as hard and got the last drop out of their ability as you have done, we would be in a far far better place.

At least you can retire / move on without any regrets that you could have done more, unlike so many others may have.

Thanks Mono, you've said exactly what I think.

Thanks Jordie, all the best for the future.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
