I'd let him go. For a number of reasons, but most of all - to me - I find that he hasn't led by example or improved since under Roos.

People may look at him as a loyal servant, been through the tough times etc, and he has, but that doesn't cut it looking forward.

Too many times he's turned it over, one of his immediate moves when he gets the ball is to go backwards. Same with Grimes to a degree.

I found early on when he was a shining light, he did show emotion and the want to win. I don't see it with him now. He's reserved, his body language to me is poor at times. At times he offers no support to his teammates, is sometimes indecisive with the ball, the shoulders hunch and he walks away. Very little one percenters these days, when once he excelled in them.

Maybe what's transpired over recent years has had an effect. Who knows? But I see other players ahead of him now down back. Blokes who have come in, who are keen to learn, keen to take the game on, and their disposal is efficient, they add another dimension, and offer positivity to the team.

Agreed.

B&F gives you an insight into the role that a player is asked to take on each week. In this case, it would seem that the coaching staff believe that Col is fulfilling this role.

The better part of his game is his versatility and, in particular, his ability to stand a resting midfielder when they rotate forward.

He's been through a lot with the club and if he wants to stay on through another rebuild, we should definitely keep him. If he wants to explore other options, of which there would be plenty, i don't begrudge him that.

With Salem building his game....Oscar developing...Frost to come back in, I don't think the back end is a worry. Col stay/go....whatever works best

Back end is still a huge worry. Terrible offensive capability. Limited shutdown ability

not sure what's going on. Colin himself told my original source he'd signed Friday week ago.

Since had mail he said at the bnf he hadn't signed. preference was to stay, but had options.

not trying to hedge my bets - I try to be definitive. but this one has me flummoxed

Nobody is perfect Chook. Keep 'em coming.

i said to my tigers supporting mate that he might be an option for them - but the thing is they really need a gorilla defender, not another third tall. chaplin and batchelor already play that role in some respects.

if we get a second round compo pick i'm happy for him to walk, and just like rivers i'll wish him well, as with the likes of dunn, tmac, omac, lumumba, white, et al we have a plethora of medium-tall defender types.

garland is a good footballer, not a great one.

Lols.

Unless you were present whilst Colin was 'telling' your source that he'd signed, I don't know why you didn't just say something like, 'I was told by my source that Colin has re-signed'.

I don't understand why people are always so definitive in what they say when their info is usually second, third or fourth hand.

There are precious few posters who's "mail" I take with more than a grain of salt

CiP is one of them. He has a few runs on the board

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
