FAREWELL JEREMY HOWE

Soo did anyone actually find out why Howe left? Lol.. just find it funny that he shopped himself around for the big bucks only to come back stone face with pretty much the same offer we offered him along with Collingwood.

Was it money? Opportunities?

MFC had a total ban on playing frisbee with your dog.

According to the Herald Sun

Howe was playing cricket, dropped a catch, went off favouring his hand, didn't bat (despite playing in the top order in earlier games) and then claims he broke his finger playing frisbee later that day.

I know footballers aren't meant to be the sharpest tools in the shed but come on...

If that's how he broke his finger and how he reported it to his new club, then I take back what I wrote about him still being a Demon at heart. He's now Collingwood through and through. Probably, had a few teeth removed since we traded him. ?

So out of all the excuses Howe could come up with playing frisbee was the best??

Fmd how stupid can these guys get..

I think he was being shopped around.

Neil  Balme claims Howe told him the frisbee story: “I can only report what he told me and I do understand that he played cricket, which is OK. But, he didn’t break his finger playing cricket so I don’t know why he wouldn’t tell me he broke his finger playing cricket, If he broke his finger playing cricket,” football manager Neil Balme told SEN radio.'  http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl

Hope Jeremy told the club the true story whatever it is...Eddie went ballistic last time a player lied to the club.

Not an auspicious start by JH.

Edit:  The article above also says: "Howe bowled four overs in the match — finishing with 0-20 — despite battling stress fractures in his feet earlier in the pre-season and not yet resuming full training".  Why on earth would be be bowling while injured!  Perhaps playing cricket is not quite as ok as Balme wants us to think.

My guess is he is getting quite a talking to.

Nuts!

Her first ever favourite player...goneski. I'm happy to wait until the end of trade period to see how the club goes overall but speaking as the dad of a shattered 8-year old Demon*, Jeremy, you've just made The List (I left a couple of Homer's originals there...because having Fat Free Lard and Gravity under phat Phil $cully just seemed to work).

*Assuming she doesn't try to follow him to the Pies.

Since the thread has been bumped I'll provide an update for the many of you who are no doubt waiting with bated breath to hear how the 8yo fan of J.Howe dealt with the news.

Firstly...I put off telling her for so long that when her cousins came to visit over the New Year they were the ones that broke the story (they also taught her the word 'traitor').

After a brief sad face she decided that Nathan Jones was now her favourite and she was going to rip Howe's autograph out of her book. I managed to talk her out of that, it's a nice book. I also tried to explain the big business of footy and that traitor is probably a bit strong, but I'm not sure the message got through.

Hell hath no fury...

I don't think he is going to enjoy his time at Collingwood very much. Their rabid supporter base will turn on him very quickly once they realise he has no value beyond the odd speccy.

In view of the fact that he dropped the catch playing cricket, he might have already lost that skill as well.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
