It sucks but the injury list could be worse in terms of who is injured. I won't jinx it by giving examples, but it could be a LOT worse. The Giants just lost their first choice ruckman, FB and CHB in one hit. Gold Coast barely have enough players to field a side.

Grimes is a real shame though as he was building into some decent form.

Our injury list is same length as gold coasts

Well Watts and Toumpas are "starting to show something" aren't they? You are clearly a fan of instant pudding and two minute noodles.

You mean like Hogan, VB and Gus? Toumpas is only in his third year and was injury affected.

Of course you're allowed to say that, but you'll just get shouted down by the sensible people who actually have watched his progress this year and noted how much more value he is providing.

It isn't that hard to see, and there is absolutely no way he is being delisted this year (and I don't even know if he is out of contract).

Don't think anyone said he was going to be delisted. But he's surely a player that could be used as trade bait at years end.

If Blease plays we will have to put a hard tag on him.

Close.. for accuracy I would suggest we put a soft tag on him.

No it isn't. Theirs currently sits at 16 players. Their list also comprises their best 5 midfielders - Ablett, O'Meara, Bennell, Prestia, Swallow. Imagine our side without Jones, Vince, Viney, Tyson and Cross. GC have been decimated this season. The two are incomparable.

Strewth are we cursed? Play a game loose 2, play a game loose 2 more. At this rate we won't be able to field a side. What shytes me is this not a one off, it happens year on year. We don't have depth so we seem to be always playing at around 60% of our potential. No wonder we struggle to get off the bottom rungs.

And what has Hunt done? The kid has been injured for two years.

The injuries has reduced our list to the quality of this time last year.

We know how the last half of 2014 turned out it is difficult to see us winning too many more games with the current list to choose from.

Misson needs to go. Not just because of injuries but also for our lack of conditioning to be able to run out quarters.

Yes.....because how dare he be responsible for broken bones...concussions....

We have 3 hamstring injuries which is the average over all sides

Stop looking for people to blame.

According to this article we only won by two points.

Better than channel 9's interpretation of the result ;)

Two best 22 players return and no new injuries. Makes for a nice change.

Lets hope Jones doesn't decide to go surfing along the reef over his break.

The Melbourne injury list from the Age

Jack Fitzpatrick (adductor) test

Sam Frost (toe) 5 weeks

Colin Garland (hand) test

Jack Grimes (thumb) 6-8 weeks

Jesse Hogan (hamstring soreness) - test

Jayden Hunt (jaw) 3-4 weeks

Dean Kent (hamstring) 5 weeks

Ben Newton (concussion) test

Cam Pedersen (wrist) season

Christian Petracca (knee) season

Christian Salem (hamstring) 3-4 weeks

Jack Trengove (knee) season

Aaron vandenBerg (hamstring) 3-4 weeks

Snail's pace progress from players like Frost and Kent suggests that it won't be long before they have the word "season" posted after their names.

Does anyone have any inside info as to just what "toe injury" frost suffered? Was it more a foot injury than just a phalanx?

Is Kent (and Salem) doing running?

Its a pity SATY was eventually ground down from reporting on injuries and training.

he did get a new job though which might be a factor too

And a new scooter as part of the package?

Good to see some progress on injured players, however small it might be.

Bit of frost bite I believe from the Melbourne weather

The Saints have a "problem".

This is their Round 13 injury list:-

Jack Billings (Shin) Test

Sam Fisher (Hamstring) Test

Dylan Roberton (Foot) Test

In other words, if those three players all pass their fitness test tonight, St. Kilda will have a full playing list for the weekend. In any event, they don't have any players on the long-term injury list and are therefore only entitled to upgrade one player off their rookie list - and that's their "problem".

St Kilda keen for rookie list review after Adam Schneider and Jack Sinclair decision.

I wonder whether the day will come when we have such a problem?

This injury list is out of date. Fitzy was the best player for Casey on the weekend. Vanders and Salem were listed 3-4 weeks in Misson's report the days after the Pies game. They should now be listed as 1-2 weeks, and they were doing run throughs at training yesterday. Its been a couple of weeks since we've seen the video injury report.

In Kents case and because of the nature of the injury, if its really slow progress, that may be a wise choice.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
