Just announced that Mitch will appear on this week's edition of The Recruit as an intruder but if he gets through the programme he can get a contract with the AFL club of his choice.

If Clark is truly bound for the Westpac Centre, let's hope we get their 1st round pick

the westpac centre? Isn't that where the AFL is run?...

I watched 360 and took Roos at his word about what went on.....He is not about to tell anyone on Tv what is happening or his thought process.

Think a few people need to settle down.

So you take Roos at his word but don't think he would tell anyone the truth of what is going on?

Clark is a fool, he will be universally hated. I doubt the genuine-ness of his depression. Sounds like he was having a hard time, played it up, saw opportunity to get out of contract and did the dirty. Sorry if he was really suffering, but having a fair amount of experience with depression, his symptoms and recovery time don't lend themselves to depression. I hope he is booed every game he plays. Highest paid photographer in Australia.

What [censored] me off the most tonight was when his manager said he did the MFC a favour by retiring, [censored] you idiot. Could have been put on LTI , helped no one but himself and your own back pockets. Disgrace.

Though I would love to keep Clark, the more freedom we have for Roos and co to bring in new players the better - Roosy has already proven his aptitude in this area by getting 3 imports who all finished in the top 5 of the bluey

Some of you are delusional if you think this has any impact on a priority pick. We aren't getting one, period!

Up until a few weeks ago, we all thought Clark was retired and we'd moved on. If he wants to move elsewhere (or if Roosy doesn't want him for whatever reason), and we somehow get a pick between 20 & 30 then, we we should take it and forget him. With Frawley compo, that would see us with 4 picks inside the top 30 + Stretch.

Not popular opinion, but I'd happily trade him for Lumumba. Only slightly older, fills a need, no injury problems and his baggage is exaggerated. It's only been Buck's who's had any issues with him. If Clark was still at Brisbane and had played 14 games in 3 years, was clearly motivated by money so will take cap space, not to mention the off field issues, what would expect us to offer? Not much. A player who fills a need and will play every game if fit, is surely more use to us than I expect Clark would be.

Those of you demanding first round picks from other clubs, or hoping the AFL will give us one aren't thinking straight.

Being a Melbourne supporter hurts. The trick, my friends, is not minding that it hurts.

As my Nepalese guide once uttered before we set off....Embrace the pain.

yeah....nah !!!

Seen at Westpac Centre. Whoa real sea change there, nothing says fresh start like a 20 second jog down the street..

As I see it, Clark has retired on the genuine belief that he needed to spend time away from the game, and in the process his manager has orchestrated a situation in which, should he return in 2014, he wouldn't be tied to Melbourne. The club has respected Clark's situation and agreed, having no choice (if we'd tried to force him to remain contracted to us imagine how that would have looked).

So, as it eventuated, Clark has improved, and now wants to consider returning. He's probably received advice along the way, whether from a doctor, his manager, or someone else, along the lines of 'you need a clean start' or 'you don't want to go back to Melbourne, that's where it all started'. Due to his manager's foresight, he's now able to pick where he thinks he's most suited, and that doesn't have to be Melbourne. So he's started looking into other options. In doing so, in some manner he's upset the club, which appears to have assisted him in his recovery and at the least would have expected he commenced his process with them before exploring other options. It may well now be the case that he's burned bridges with us and we're now of the view that we'd rather trade him.

If so, so be it, but I'll still be disappointed if he leaves us, the more so if he returns to his decent/best form, and the more more so if he does it for Hawthorn or another powerhouse.

If he did play for us he would be half the player he was.

When he plays for another team he will be in ripping form.

Its Murphys law!

As much as I want him to stay amd see the upside of a fully fit Mitch Clark..the blokes played 15 games in 3 years. Will we really be losing anything we already had if he goes?

We wont win a flag in his time at Melbourne so it will benefit the club more to let hik go and get the best compensation possible.

If he kicks 10 against us and injures T-Mac though I may blow a head gasket.

He will most likely nominate a club to be traded to, and we will get a second round pick or a player for him.

In fact it would be better if he left so we aren't on tenterhooks next year worrying when he'll next get RSI or fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome or irritable bowel syndrome. I hope he's seeing a good chiropractor to manipulate his spine back into shape.

If Clark did move to another club it would likely be through this year's trade period, although Young said Clark has made it clear he does not want to let Melbourne down.
"Mitchell would not walk away from the Melbourne footy club without them getting compensated," Young said.
"Mitchell also did them a massive favour by walking away from a very lucrative contract and also free up a space on their list."

His being on the LTI list freed up that space, so that is a parasitic agent talking through his rear end!

Nothing says "I need a healthy way to get over depression" quite like painting yourself as the biggest jerk in the history of the game and maliciously betraying tens of thousands of die hard supporters and dozens of close professional friends who've busted their ass to help you.

Yep, living with that for the rest of your life will really ease any unsettled emotional problems!

What a generous thing to do. Gave us space for another Nicholson.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
