Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Recommended Posts

MIke Sheehan was also adamant he was gone. Suggested that the dees were eager to have him on the list (so delist, not trade him) because it strengthens the case for a priority pick.

Lets face it, given MC's problems, if we pick up a PP from this debacle, then we probably come out ahead.

Mike Sheahan just said Mitch was seen at the Westpac Centre on Friday

If we trade Clark for Lamumba I will *insert something drastic*

I think long term we are better off to lose him completely rather than trade him. More chance we'll get a cracking PP, say pick 3/4 (plus compo for Frawley), than the second/third round pick any could would pay for him.

Just watch him go to a successful club for nothing, dominate, kick 17 against us, and win a flag.

I dont care one way or another if we get lamumba, but trading him in for Clark makes me want to vomit

The panic about lamumba is overplayed, he is a quality player. Ex All-Australian and is absolutely worth a look.

Roos played that like a master.

He firmly reminded the footy community that this guy isn't stable. All this player welfare language is code for 'hard work'.

I don't believe that Mitch acted with malice when he retired.

I do believe that he's made a horrible decision about what to do next.

He's made himself look dishonest and called into question how the football community views mental health issues

It's not exactly endearing and it will make him a target. He's brought it on himself, and I'm not sure he's strong enough to handle what it will truly mean for him for the rest of his life.

Agree totally.

Roos said today that the retirement was orchestrated by Mitch's manager. On other occasions it has been mentioned that MFC agreed to the retirement approach to reduce the pressure on Mitch so that he was not constantly being asked about when he was coming back, etc.. So we pay him mega bucks and support him and this is the way he repays that.... I believe his manager has really stuffed this up big time and the papers tomorrow are going to really have a go at mitch for what he is doing it is also going to be quite a lot of people talking about his integrity and the value of him. I thought I recalled his manager saying that he was still acting as mitch's manager until his current contract ends on or around 31st october. I would be very surprised to see mitch continue with this clown as his manager after all the damage and stuffups his made of this so far.

Being a Melbourne supporter hurts. The trick, my friends, is not minding that it hurts.

The Key is to enjoy the pain.

This is like round 23 and we're playing the Hawks...

Yes, I'd trade Strauss/Blease/Tapscott/Pick 30 for him.

Would NOT give up our best KPP for him, and shaft our own compensation in the process.

Didnt Mel Michael "retire" and then go to Essendon because Brisbane wouldnt trade him? Mitch might be able to walk to Hawthorn scot free?

As far as the depression didnt Scott Thompson play for North Melbourne for years with severe depression? So Clarks is so depressed he cant play and retires and gets paid out and looked after then 6 months later feels good enough to go to a red hot premiership favourite?

If he wanted to go back to Perth where he was more comfortable best of luck to bim but not next door. Dogs act.

Dont mean to make light of any mental health issues because i really have no idea. Ive been lucky enough to live a healthy life so far but it all seems a bit sus to me

What I don't understand is if MC told MFC a few weeks ago, why is he training with Melbourne staff?

Exactly. If we we spend another minute or dollar on this cretin we are fools.

They should send him a bill for the training he has received since he "retired".

I have just read the last 10 pages of drival ...(7 new replies as I type)

1/ MFC has the responsibility to make sure MC is able to "come back"

2/Just because he is feeling better does not make it a certainty that he will

3/Talks between him and Roos would have been about his health and wellbeing

4/Yes he misses playing but can he handle all the rest of the training and BS that goes with it

5/If Roos comes out and says "god we want him back....Does that not put more pressure on him

I watched 360 and took Roos at his word about what went on.....He is not about to tell anyone on Tv what is happening or his thought process.

Think a few people need to settle down.

OK so, if Roos does not seem keen to keep Clark, the real question is, why?

Yes the obvious risks are the obvious risks, but he keeps saying he was our best player. We are a team devoid of talent, devoid of experience, devoid of goal kicking power.

A trade would net us very little, unless the AFL intervene and compensate us (might be best to let him walk as a free agent? does he qualify?).

It just doesn't make sense. If Clark is fit and mentally healthy enough for another club to take a risk on him, why won't we?

In all seriousness...what...anything...about all of this makes sense ?

Why do you all want the big crybaby anyway? Tell him to F off. Let's get some real superstars into our club and win some premierships. So he broke a bone in his foot? So what? Most of us have had hard times too! Suck it up you pathetic wimp! He's taken about 2.1M from our club and done nothing but [censored] and moan.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
