Post match discussion - Round 7

3player crash, 2 concussions, Viney wins ball..

Viney KO'd - 20 secs later running back with flight of ball... Unreal.

Jamar the unsung hero, he's back folks. Tyson class, Grimes spoil on Dangerfield! T-Mac has to get the golden fist. Dawes the new Clark. Watts displayed his pace! JKH gets everything out of his size. Bail split packs, these are a few of my favourite things

Hell yeah!

On the downside, I think Viney may have a case to answer. If you look at the replay, he turns and goes shoulder first. That looks a hell of a lot like a shirtfront with high contact and a broken face at the end of it. I think they'll have a pretty good look at him. Bear in mind that the MRP likes to use Melbourne players to show the world how tough they are.

That aside, I am so happy about this win. As has been said, JKH appears to have had a blinder, Watts was better this week, Tyson is back up near the 30 disposal mark, Jetta killed Betts, Dawes was good and the radio guys said that would probably be the best game Pedersen has ever played. Great signs.

Got the IQ ready for the 2:30am replay :)

To be honest I thought JKH was fantastic, still a little timid going for marks at times but is so smooth and clean collecting the ball. If he starts kicking goals... Wow.

Tyson was fantastic, Salem was awesome early, not as good in the last but is a great get for us.

Vince was good, Dawes was amazing, grimes started really well and finished with the spoil of the year.

Howe was a lot better tonight, watts also looked pretty good, loved the yell and slap Dawes gave watts when he did the tackle. Terlich was good with his normal brain snap. Jetta smashed Betts, I may need to apolagise in 5-6 weeks if he keeps this up.

Nev did a good job on Betts and Lewis jetta last week, if he can consistently keep the opposition's small forwards quiet it will be very good for our fortunes

Maybe. I hope not, but then again it will be worth the weeks to make sure the message is sent out loud and clear: it's his ball so get between him and it at your own risk.

Every other player on the team will walk taller and feel bulletproof when he is around.

A poster said in another thread that "we would win"

My response was "look I can c pigs flying"

Well I am happy to report "THE SKY IS FULL OF FLYING PIGS"

O the joy

I don't want to go too early on this but - we're back! Pigs can fly Melbourne can win interstate. Anything is possible.

Wow!!! Dawes is an A grader - no argument! Bernie Vince top game but also an aggressive little bastard - loved the way he stuck elbows into his former teammates.

Now here's the thing. Can we rattle cups, run raffles, prostitute our wives, whatever is needed to to pay Paul Roos ridiculous amounts of money to stay with the MFC.

Great team win. The first half really showed where we are heading. The last quarter players stood up and showed the steel to hang on. Watts and Howe both showed real application today. JKH, Tyson, Viney and Salem's early cameo really showed the future. However a match of many highlights the best one of all for me was Jetta absolutely towelling Betts. I really hope he gets a good injury free run at that small defender role.

If there is such thing as a Demi-God then Viney is one.

JKH - will be a player (oozes class)

Never gave up on Dawes - he is a true leader and provides so much for the club and on game day (structurally)

Tyson - does anyone else wonder how this guy gets so many touches - I never seem to see him and yet he ends up with 30 touches (must be congested stuff)

Grimes McDonald and Jetta held their ground

If we win next week against the Dogs we could find ourselves 13th on the ladder! (above the Lions, Blues, Dogs, Giants and Tigers)

One game out of the 8 atm and we should have beaten gws saints and gc.

Is it possible we are much better than we realise?

For a guy that has played only about 20 games, Dom Tyson is a very good footballer already. That goal late on the game was both grunt and pure class. The glimpses Salem has shown will make the pick 2 for Dom and pick 9 trade a good one, probably for both parties.

What a heart thumping finish not shared by the Crows supporters who started departing in droves when only a couple of goals down with 7 minutes left ! I can't remember the last time we experienced that stressful excitement of a close one .

I had to work all day today so was not even listening, then I start getting text messages that we look like winning! I am just so overjoyed, we have finally broken the Adelaide hoodoo! Thank God they have buried Westlakes or whatever that horrible ground is called.

He gets a hell of a lot of ball in tight spaces where it's really hard to spot. He's often the first one with hands on it getting a quick short pass out to one of the other mids.

wow I went up to my local hotel to watch the 2nd half. Frustrated in the 3rd quarter when they came back but a good last quarter to hang on. Dawes was brilliant. 20 possies, 5 marks and 3 goals. Jamar this is why I wanted him in our team because he can go froward and kick a goal. Grimes what a spoil in the final minutes. Jones kicked a captains goal, and cannot speak highly enough of Tyson and Salem. Sorry but Dom Tyson has been great and his goal was beautiful he kicked in the final moments.

The best thing is Jones only had the 14 possessions and we still won.

How about JKh for the rising star nomination this week, 25 possessions, 5 marks and a goal.

Well done boys and Roosy and Bernie winning against your old team. Now just back it up next week.

if there was any more proof needed as to Paul Roos genius just look at what hes done with Cameron Pedersen

Or just look at the fact that we continue to restrict opposition scoring - we held the Crows to their lowest score for the year

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
