He's deceptively big and was just about the only Melbourne player to put on shepherd! I like the look of him a lot.

yeah that's what l thought, when l first saw him when we drafted him l thought he was very lightly framed but he's not and should get a full game next week because he's already better than half the guys out there

When he got subbed in was worried that he may struggle on what had been a pretty hard fought tense game and I worried he may look lost out there a la Toumpas early last year - the difference could not have been more stark. He was only on for a quarter but he showed an appetite for the contest, an ability to run to the right spots and silky skills. In a word he looked classy.

Salem looks sharp I wish he was playing instead of a Watts, and there were many around me who said if we had Salem instead of Watts for the majority of the game we would have been right in the contest, it only takes a few for team to look poor and to play poorly. Great to see the lads get around him for his goal.

Looks all quality to me

First thing that was noticeable was that he gets to the front position - always a good sign, especially on debut. He looks to have time and he certainly knows how to kick a footy. In fact, he looked right at home. Classy and cool. Got a bit of size about him as well.

Keep him as sub for at least one more game though. He needs to be handled well with a proper first year program, mapped out well. I like the way Roos is using our younger brigade. When Toumpas comes back in, he'll be better prepared as well.

On TV he certainly looked a lot taller than 183, and attacks the ball beautifully. Great composure. Thinks and does the team thing.

Well done.

didnt look out of place but had alot of strapping on his hands (extra grip i hope)

what struck me was his ability to pick the right option with his kicks (love to know his ball retention/efficiency stats)

threw his body around

but the best sign was the entire team getting around him after the goal...looking more and more like a team that wants to play with and for each other

He looks to be he love child of Adem Yze and Luke Hodge....as awkward as that possibility may be, I am open to it.

I think he is a beauty and look forward to watching him for 250+ magical games for Dees.

Yep was really nice to see. Game was over really but still all 18 made the effort to get around him. That energy flows through the crowd.

The trade to get Tyson and Salem looks very inspired now!

(Also interesting to see how many posters have recently re-evaluated Pedersen and Dunn!)

Let's temper our enthusiasm.....he's played for 5 minutes.

We're so desperate for a shining knight that anyone who kicks straight and looks the goods is the messiah.

PS. I loved the way he moved.

Correct, temper it.

But sh*t he looked good!

Tyson has played all of 20 games, Salem a qtr and a bit. Some great kids who will develop together. Dunn's been brilliant. When Garland comes back Pedo might be dropped. Yes he's improved his game but he is depth for the list.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
