For mine the biggest advantage Vince has over Sylvia is a footy brain.

That and Vince has desire to be at every contest he can possibly be at. Repeat efforts whether offensively or defensively.

he is pretty darn skilled, let's be fair about it

All I've ever seen is an occasional good mark and a long kick, not what I would call a overly skilled player Col. Over rated yes.

Best poker player at the club.

Second on the list for big nights out.

Just got picked on the bench for Freo against the Tiges. Is this his first senior game for them?

I hope he does really well.

If he plays poorly it means he was likely a dud all along. If he plays well then we were just as much fault in his failure as he was.

He traded himself for Vince. That sounds like a fair deal to me and all you can ask of anyone who leaves your club is that they don't leave for nothing.

Still an exciting player to watch, just hope he stinks it up against us.

Col will kick 5 goals and get 31 disposals then do sfa for the rest of the year

Interesting to see how he goes. Not used to be left chomping on the bit and sit it out for half a season. Always an automatic selection for us. May be dynamite or a complete fizzle.

Im surprised he was picked... he had 21 disposals and couple of goals last week in the wafl but other then that he has been stinking it up pretty badly. Just on form if he had stayed with us he still wouldn't have played a senior game for us this year.

One problem with Col is that a team usually plays Tigers once or twice a season.

I wonder what would happen if Col moved to Richmond. Would they finish last every year because Sylvia's presence would cause them to play shite every game, or would they win the Premiership every year because every game they play has Colin Sylvia playing in a Richmond game--in which he invariably looks a million bucks?

he may start as sub. That will dent the ego

What, more than not even being selected to play for half the season?

That is giving him too much credit I think. 1) He left as a free agent. I suspect he would have left whether the club was compensated or not. 2) The credit goes entirely to the club for the astute trade of the Colin Sylvia compensation pick to Adelaide for Bernie Vince. It was a good trade, but not one Sylvia had any input in to.

No he didn't.

We essentially traded him for Vince.

He left - we made the most out of the situation from his FA comp.

The most disappointing footballer I have seen during my time supporting.

Many disagree but I believe he had the talent to be anything...alas he had an attitude that made him amount to nothing.

Not sure why everyone has such hate for Sylvia.

Yes he never achieved his potential but gee the hate some people are expressing here amazes me.

His case is free agency in motion.

We need to all get used to free agency players swapping clubs it will be an every increasing phenomena in the future.

Are we all going to show the same hate if Frawley leaves this year?

Maybe there should be free agency for supporters. Some of ours might get a better deal elsewhere and allow us to make some improvement in the fan base.

You walk away from my club then you are dirt. I don't care how many times I cheered you before that.

Unless you do it after giving us a flag. Everything is forgiven on that one.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
