I myself played 10 years of VAFA and after that coached a bit in senior footy of similar standard!

Who did you play for in the VAFA pf? I've played in the VAFA and Northern FL. A thoroughly unimpressive career that continues with the odd game here and there.

50 VAFA C grade games then 2 years in a 'second tier' territory league for me (My identity creeps slowly now to revelation to my nearest and dearest!)

Reasonable player in the O&M under age comp, played a couple of games for Bushies as well, but lack of pace as a midfielder really gets exposed as you go through the ranks these days.

Played under 13's for Bentleigh Juniors. But parents didn't want their kids to play against me because they didn't want them to get hurt by my sledging.

Played rugby union but did play one game for school on an exchange trip to Papua New Guinea.  They pantsed us and I confirmed for myself what a good decision it was to not play afl.

Meggs played 1 game for Camberwell Under 19s and then a few years in E grade VAFA.

However the pinnacle of my career was undoubtably playing footy alongside our current coach and including 2 finals ....

in my childhood one of the single best things was kick to kick with my brother, and demon buddy, Ray. there was no biffo, just lairising and plenty of practise perfecting drop kicks and torps. I played fantasy football with a soccer ball from the age of about 7 before progressing to Springvale under 12's and under 14's. All the kids grew into gorillas over summer that year and i decided i would play soccer for a few seasons. i used to love juniors football at springvale but was always an outside receiver. the main playmakers seem to wax together so the best i could do was pick up the crumbs. i remember peter bundy standing on my hand at the bottom of a pack one day and my hand instantly puffing up. i also dabbled with a season of fantasy marble football in 1970. at the end of that season i threw all the marbles away cos i had become addicted. i think that season my brother became addicted to fantasy  balloon footballer, which was basically an indoor sport.  I then played a couple of seasons for Dingley and Parkdale in the firsts and seconds in the federal league in my early 20's. i remember one game i kicked a beautiful torp. goal from the half-forward flank and got promoted to the ones the next week. it was a brief appearance and i was soon back in the twos.  One game i got king hit in a game at parkdale  and spent the second half chasing the guy around for payback. a couple of years ago i had a run around with the gippsland vets team, it was a lot of fun and great doing drills again with all the true believers. last friday i took a group of kids for winter sports and lamented that most of the kids can't kick any more. good to see some girls participating though.

Never played but i would love for any of you to beat me in a 100m sprint in my early teens, I was a quick little bugger, good triple jumper too. Then addictions to multiple things, sex drugs & Nirvana, kicked in and that was the end of any kind of sport i participated in, expect back yeard sport, cricket kick to kick bball soccer.

Nice topic PF.

I played for 8 or 9 seasons as a junior in the DVFL. I planned on taking a year off after high school and coming back to play u19's/senior footy but got stuck into the weekend partying and never went back much to my regret. Now I'm too old with kids and don't think I could play even if I wanted to, though I keep telling my brother I'm gonna put in a pre-season just to come back and play one game alongside him in the ammo's.

5 points down in the Grand Final vs the Hawks - 30 seconds left on the clock - Tom McDonald with the perfect intercept mark and takes off from fullback and drills a perfect 40 metre pass ( that is his strong suite) to Viney - he goes straight through CHB and runs head first through 3 hawks knocking them over like 9 pins and handpasses to Oliver who is set upon by five Hawks but still gets the handpass off to Petracca who sidesteps two and bombs it long to 60 metres out where Nutbean jumps on top of Frawley's head and takes mark of the year just as the siren goes.

Nutbean goes back - no pressure and send through an 65 metre torpedo straight through to give the Dees the premiership. wooo and hooooo....

Yes - I play football in my mind every night when I go to bed.....( sometimes i dream of girls too)

You need to have a version of this dream where Buckenara runs over the mark, you get a 50m penalty and kick the ball out of the ground from the goal square.

I played one game of U12s against Jack Viney.  I came off at 1/4 time and complained to my mum that he hurt me, so Mum started a petition to have Jack pushed up to the U16s. I am proud that Mum and me had such an important part to play in 'fast tracking' Jack's progress as an A grader.

Scared of the ball, scared of the opposition, scared of getting hurt, scared of hurting others... otherwise pretty handy.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
