Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So it looks as though the midfield is shaping up. What are people's thoughts on the forward line? We have got a wealth of talls with Clark, Dawes, Hogan and Fitz/Gawn, as well as Jumping Jeremy. So if the ball's in the air we're gunna get a hand to it.

But what about if it hits the deck, what are your thoughts on crumbers and goal sneaks?

lets sort our way thru the mids & smalls we have,,, apart from taking a 'talented project small' as a rookie. Next year after sifting thru the mids we can go to trade time to move some out & bring more talent in.

this way we have more spots available to play the mids we have. this will show us the values of our current players.

One thing I'd like to say is I's still like to have a crack at Billy Longer this trade period. see if we can swing a deal somehow?

Has the Shaw deal official yet? Last I heard gws want more.

Pick#9,,, we should still try for Taylor Adams or Shaw.

@ the very least we owe the Giants to make the Adams deal realistic. HShaw swap, pfft... Adams is worth more than that hack.

& we owe Pir^2 ed for making us pay too highly last year. lets pump up Adams's tyres nice 'N' high.

Why? If he decides to retire after one year what would you say then? If we get 3 years out of him that would be a maximum of 60 games. How many games would you hope to get out of a pick 22, I would suggest a lot more.

I agree he will bring experience and talent and as I said I just put the price on him as too much but ok if Lyons was included. Anyway it is what it is and our list is getting better.

Understand where you are coming from but if he takes the pressure off a developing youngster and allows them to come along without having to do it all themselves then it is a pick well spent.

If he retires after one year then I will be more surprised then if we were to win the flag. Won't happen. If we get 60 games out of him that's a win based on our previous drafting. Mature age knows how to find the ball and is basically a direct swap for Sylvia (who was so inconsistent it wasn't funny) I actually don't see how we lose out of this ?

We don't lose but I just valued the pick higher than him. Mummy for example went 35 to GWS.

Was he contracted? PSD may have impacted. If not I agree. Ridiculously low compensation.

I like the Vince trade. He may play for 5 years. He will play for three and his benefit will be well beyond his games.

Shame we still don't have Moloney. As a third or forth mid he'd go ok.

That is not the best example as it would have had a lot to do with Swans needing to make cap space and GWS have offered Mumford an attractive deal and having PSD 1.

You could also the Tigers paid pick 28 for Hampson who is a muppet.

Maric, Tapscott, Blease, Gysberts, Strauss all went below pick 22. Between them they probably haven't played 60 games.

I suspect we have ticked off our wish list. Interesting to see what happens in the last week. Can we improve our picks? Do we move someone out? Do we facilitate a deal for others?

Very happy with where we are at. Excited by what may be possible!

I recon we are happy with pick 9 and have our eyes on someone and that the players or picks remaining that we would be happy to trade would not get us much.

We only have two players - Jamar and Byrnes - on the list born before 1988 so from an experience point of view and looking at the list dynamic, it makes sense to get some 27-28 year olds in. I personally love him as a player, purely because he is a fantastic two-sided kick. As a club, we haven't had that kind of precision very often and he'll be useful setting up across half-back and kicking long goals. The concern is he has become inconsistent and in and out of games more these last couple of years. If he can find his best form and be in the 25 possession per game level, he will be our best midfielder by a mile. Because he is such a good kick other teams will have to put time into him which will help Jones and Watts and co as well. Ideally you want to have high picks, but I think Vince will play 5 years. He was an old draft pick (20yo) and only played a handful of Sanfl games so you've got to believe he has four years in him at worst and at least three of them in his prime. I don't think it's a great trade in terms of value necessarily but it's certainly not a bad one, but I fully expect Vince to be one of our best players for three years at least for what that is worth. If he finds his best high workrate/possession winning form, he will be one of the best players we have had at the club for quite a while.

Paul Roos uses the trade and draft to build a team rather than bring in individuals with exceptional skill. Vince is a very good footballer, while Michie and Tyson have shown skill and potential but it looks like they have been chosen to complete a group of midfielders of about 10 players. This will likely form the guts of Roos' game plan.

We have a lot of players who can move through the back line and forward line but I reckon we lack two things:

A small forward.

A line breaking backman (Birchall, Shaw, Grigg)

I can't see either of these types available in the PSD, so we might have to wait until 2014 to trade them in. Food for thought though:

Small forward: Barry, Jetta, Byrnes, Strauss, Tapscott

Line breaking backman: Blease, Evans

Sylvia is a better footballer than Vince - perhaps not in 2009, but definitely in 2014.

Why do you say that?

Vince has him covered in every stat in 2013.

More disposals, more goals, more marks, higher disposal efficiency - all despite spending less time on the ground than SYlvia

And they are the same age.

Give me Vince over Sylvia any day of the week

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
