Probably against the swans grunt it should be Magner but wouldn't be surprised to see Strauss on his performance yesterday.

Straussy was quite good yesterday, as mentioned; I'd like to see him given another shot. But I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that James Magner is just not in the club's plans. I don't really get why, but there it is.

Strauss or Tappy in to replace Blease.

What about Jack Grimes - isn't he due back in.

Also would drop Brynes and have either Magner or Tappy back in.

Hopefully Blease plays and it's just Grimes for Byrnes.

Grimes? Would he be ready to immediately come into the seniors? He has been out a while.

I'd bring him straight back in. He's been running for a few weeks, and would have been able to ride and walk through his whole lay-off period. His endurance is probably good enough to play 3 quarters.

He is the captain after all. You don't just bring your captain through the VFL if you don't have to.

So does Jonesy lose his interim captaincy title once Grimes is back in? Probs won't be brought up.

yeah he does, he was on the sunday footy show this morning and they asked him that very question, and he confirmed he would just slide back to VC and garland down to DC

In: Grimes, out: Blease. The other skipper said he thought he was ready, so if so then Magner is no longer eligible to play.

Maybe it would be worth giving Matt Jones abit of a rest, he has been great for us but I have felt his performances have been slowly dipping a little bit, perhaps he is abit tired and needs a week off?

out blease, jones

in grimes, strauss

Please keep the same team subject to them having no injuries.

Major changes have been a killer for the MFC this season.

Can't imagine many changes and Bleasey is the only obvious injury.

Tapscott is a small forward and has done well against Swans in past - so a small forward for a small forward.

If Grimes is fit, then a decision has to be made on whether he replaces Clisby or Dunn and goes straight into back six.

Swans have quite a few injuries, but based on last week their five most regular forwards were Tippett, White, McGlynn, Bolton and Parker - so perhaps we don't need Dunn's size (and errors) this week, although Kennedy, O'Keefe and Everitt all drift forward and have a bit of size.

Out: Blease (inj), Dunn

In: Tapscott, Grimes (if fit)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
