Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAMEDAY - Round 21 (GROUNDHOG DAY)

It's deja vu all over again.

You wake up on the morning of a game the week after a ground-breaking win and you think - "we're on our way, we're going to win this one."

We finished off so well against the Hawks last week while Port Adelaide was so insipid against the Swans. There's no way we can lose this one. Welcome to three wins in a row and another week of talking about mathematical possibilities.

And then ... it's Groundhog Day.

It might have been worse.

You could have woken up this morning only to discover that last Saturday was all a dream and that week actually lost to the Hawks by 105 points.

That's deja vu!

It is definitely foggy this morning as I gaze out of my bedroom window...

i am supremely confident heading into this match... that I will offend at least 3 local ferals from up the river and that Melbourne will play a brand of football that impresses all who see it...

About to head up to Sydney for a long overdue getaway with the missus sans kids.

How am I going to not be distracted during our romantic dinner tonight in a fancy restaurant? This will be a serious exercise in self control and prioritisation.

Any tips?

And I've backed us in with some, but not a huge amount, of confidence.

CARN DEES!! :lol::ph34r:

I don't want to be a negative nelly but I am not expecting a win

We haven't beaten an outside running team all year. Port at Port is going to be no easy task.

It will be a really good test on how much we have actually improved, I'm looking forward to the game, but not getting too excited just yet.... here's hoping

Expect the worst,  hope for the best is the general consensus here I take it. Kinda sums up the previous 10 year Melbourne supporting experience. On the flip-side, a win tonight changes this outlook somewhat to expect the best, which would be a monumental shift in supporter expectations, and truly the first step from base camp up that big [censored] off mountain.  Can't wait! :)

A win this week is very important if we are not going to be seen as an "occasional performer." The Bulldogs last night won my respect for getting the job done despite their horrendous injury list.

Must admit to watching that last quarter of the Hawks match a couple of times..... It was special

Adelaide Oval.

Two Flakey teams fighting for a Cinderella shot at finals.

Should be a cracking game.

We owe them.

We are both playing our best football now.

A win leaves hope alive.

I think the reality is that improvement is never a straight line. 'Turning point' victories make for great media copy but to think that things will never go wrong ever again and that everything will be smiles and sunshine is naive. Especially with young teams. We have to accept that while our young team can do the amazing like roll the Hawks and GWS, it can occasionally do things that are absolutely cringe worthy (round 2 vs. Essendon).
Today's challenge is to make sure the let down doesn't happen the very next match after a landmark win. It happened last year after we beat the Cats at Mordor. We then got pantsed by the Eagles and then, mind bogglingly, lost to Essendon. We have a similar run in the next fortnight (interstate game at inhospitable venue and a game against a bottom four side at home).
The other challenge is for us to break double figures. For me personally, that would be a pass mark for the year.

Port are pretenders and if we play with the same intensity and attitude as we did last week with the skill and execution to match, we should win this game.

I just wish we could make a statement and win this one as well as next week's game and fly into the off-season on a high.

Hope the players come out and play like it means something.

I predict a flat performance as the team struggles to get up again after last weeks massive effort. Port by a few goals.

Meh, i have the replay of the Hawks game to keep me happy either way.

It has been pleasing and a relief that we are not finishing off the season badly as  we were for a long time. Has been a nightmare for us. After last week it proves that we are now capable of getting more scalps which didn't look likely a few rounds ago.

If you ever want to see serious improvement from this side, you best move past that kind of spin.

They're just shitty excuses used to forecast a potential loss and for some reason it seems to be the norm around here.

The dogs have a list almost as young as ours, they have been massacred by injury, yet they back their effort up every week.

I'm sick of lame excuses.

You think we'll be flat after our best win in nearly a decade?

Give me a [censored] break.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
