  2. Tonight’s banner has a stunning pic of Lever, Maxy, Dogga and Tracc. It will look spectacular when raised. (I’m sure other teams’ cheer squads must be envious of our banners. We’re blessed to have in the DA a rusted-on Dees diehard who runs a printing company, and the quality of his work is next level.) And to the left of the pic there’s written in huge letters: WE’RE NOT DONE YET! I can’t remember exactly the wording on the flip side (even though I cut the letters out 🤭) but I do know it includes the words ‘unbeatable’ and ‘repeatable’ so one gets the gist of it. ❤️💙

  4. When I left work my Collingwood friend said to me good luck tonight, I'll be cheering for you. I said thanks see you next week, she turned around and said aren't you going to wish my team good luck. I said no way. I'm hoping they lose.

  6. I wanna see ANGRY Demons. I wanna see Tracc snorting like a bull just like during the GF. I wanna see Jack lift up Maxy in delight. I wanna sing our song on the final siren. I wanna have to make a banner next Thursday. I wanna have to work at the DA BBQ again next week. I’m not ready to let it all end tonight. WE CAN DO THIS!!! ❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙

  7. My disappointment will settle. The rage too. But to lose the same way, again, is just maddening. We lost 8 games this year. 6 of them all played out the same way - strong start, 20+ point lead, some point midway our opponent lifts and we absolutely fall apart and never look like righting the ship. Our fitness wasn’t good enough. Our hunger can’t have been strong enough. Our skills weren’t good enough. Our coaching wasn’t good enough. From 10-0, and after finishing 2nd, we should not be watching prelim finals from home. That is not good enough.

  8. Do or Die Today! The boys have gotten up and performed every time this year when we were questioned and the pressure was on. We smashed Brisbane coming off a 3 game losing streak, smashed Freo in Perth when we needed to after 3 mediocre games, got over the line against Carlton to keep our top 4 dream alive and lastly beat Brisbane in Brisbane to secure top 4. Yes we didn't beat Sydney for an easy Prelim spot but today is different, we lose and it's over, so we need to win and I think the boys will get it done. After that, Geelong won't seem like such a massive challenge and we can beat them. Before you know it we're in another GF. Let's go dees!

  11. Failure of a season. Every single loss was the same where we get out to a lead of around 20 to 30 points and then get complacent and stop trying to win. No imagination with team selection or style. Half the team in on reputation while Casey had an all-time great saeason.

  12. Tonight, along with everything else held aloft in the cheer squad, there will be a tribute to the Queen in the form of a red flag with a blue crown in the centre. It’s very tasteful and a beautiful touch.

  15. I'm confident we will win this game. Not as confident as i was last week, or for the round 23 game. But confident nonetheless. If we win, I'm confident we will beat the cats too. That said, i feel sick in the guts at the thought of the season ending tonight (and i worry the players might too - which is one reason I'm not as confident about tonight as i was for the round 23 game)

  19. Sadly, our second half of the year has to be seen as a massive capitulation, and that game was the perfect capper. A team we smacked twice this year, badly undermanned, and they made us look like utter amateurs in that second half. Can’t win at our home ground, get easily rolled in our second halves, and when oppositions come hard with the pressure, we go belly up, retreating into our slow methodical attacking strategy with a massive attack of the panics down back. None of the fast, rolling waves of possession, just fumbly, horrible rubbish that gets easily turned over. Dunno how it happened, but it’s absolutely there for all to see. Shattered for the boys, cos I reckon they’ve got no idea how it happened either. Here’s the other thing, and I’ll definitely sound like a smartarse saying it, but HARRY PETTY IS A FORWARD. I’ve been saying it for 4 years. You don’t waste great marking competitive beasts like him down back. Next year, peeps!

  20. Lots to it. We were cooked, selection maybe exacerbated it, game plan etc etc. Honestly think we'll be a lot better next year with improved fitness and luck with injuries. On to the trade and draft board we go...

  25. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. For all of our “learnings”, we’ve learnt nothing. The most disappointing part for me about this season is that we walk away without having unearthed a single young player who I think can really help us improve next year. Casey lost one game all year, yet we debuted one player all year despite wavering form and injuries. Our big move was bringing Melksham back in and throwing Petty forward with 3 minutes left in the season. It was clear that things haven’t been working well since the halfway mark of the year. Yes we finished second and that was a good result, but our form was very up and down, particularly against good sides. And yet week after week nothing changed. The same predicable ball movement. The same dysfunctional forwardline. Hell even our defense has been leaking goals left right and centre. To start 10-0 and go out in straight sets is an unacceptable result.

  26. Gotta say, I really hate the umpire excuse. I hate it when all teams use it, but I especially hate it when we use it. Should have buried the game in the first quarter. Should have kicked another 5-6 goals easily throughout the game. We let them get easy goals at the ends of quarters. There’s the game right there. We absolutely choked and all ire should be directed at us for many reasons.

  28. I'm surprised and shocked on two counts. 1. Someone found Daniher attractive enough to do the deed 2. Daniher was accurate enough to "kick a goal."

  30. I’m not a monarchist at all, but I’m not sure I can get behind the idea that she never worked. It seems like her entire life was a series of obligations, which might not directly translate to “hard work”, but certainly doesn’t resemble a life of leisure either. In a weird way I’ve always felt sorry for the Royal Family. They’re like living dolls walking around a public dollhouse, living an incredibly strange, inhuman life. Anyway, here she is with a footy…

  31. Sooo, is it a bit pathetic they have to tell us to cheer? ‘Grumble play good footy grumble win a contest grumble kick the bloody footy grumble grumble fart’. I get all that but we have a future Demon God in Clayton Oliver playing for us, 2 AFL All Timers in Gawn and CP5, two Demon Knights-of-the-realm in Viney and Brayshaw, three generational backmen in The Demon Trident of Lever, May, and Petty. We also have the Demon Firestarter in Kozzie Pickett. You aren’t excited enough to cheer already? It’s like a team of the best few players from the last 4 generations rolled into one team. Just get up and cheer like a bogan for September. No one will know it was you, you can wear a fake moustache if you want…

  34. Why? The Queen lived a magnificent life. She achieved so much and died peacefully surrounded by family at age 96 in her favourite castle. I can't think of a single one of us who wouldn't be happy with that ending. Death is an inevitable part of life, just like losing is in football. If you have a really successful period in football and it comes to an end, you make peace with it. The Queen's life and death is no different.

  35. Very interesting.. I would doubt we would call off any events though. I would guess that we would introduce a minutes silence tonight instead of calling it off. As for the Queen's Birthday clash, Queen Elizabeths real birthday is 26th of April. We dont celebrate until the second Monday of June. Prince Charles is on 14th of November. I would imagine that we would retain the public holiday on that date and simply rename it.

  36. It doesn’t feel real that our season could be over in less than 24 hours, there is so much unfinished business. All of the player interviews this week don’t feel like it’s a possibility either. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not…

  37. So after we wasted this year these are what I think we need to change. Game plan. It’s crap and was worked out early this year but Goodwin refused to tweak. Forward coach, not a bloody ruckman. Selection, actually reward Casey players. Game day coaching, try things. FFS try things. Major review of fitness staff, our last qtrs are only better than Nth and West coast is an absolute embarrassment. Not to be glossed over. Kick outs, if we go left and long next year I’ll burn the mcg down.

  38. Where are all the posters who slagged off anyone who dared criticise the match committee or coaches? Blind Freddy could see that our 2 finals losses were on the cards, based on our form during the 2nd half of the season. I'm not upset. I'm angry.

  39. The last minute of every quarter is so important. Tonight we gave away 5 goals in the last minute of quarters - 1 in Q1, 1 in Q2, 2 in Q3 and 1 in Q4.

  40. What a waste of a year. We have the talent but I fear we came into the year with some complacency, and refused to learn anything from our losses. We lost pretty much every single game the same way, and nobody did anything about it. Same kicks to the pocket, long bombs etc. Predictable and boring. No dynasty for this team, that's just talk Maxy. You have got to earn that with grit, every single game. We need some forwards, hunger and try to catch up other teams who will also want to be dynasties. Ugh. Lame way to end the year.

  41. Selwyn Griffith should probably start looking for a new job. Our last quarters this year have been absolutely deplorable. Teams have known they can run over us, and have done so. Also, why bother switching up positions with 5 minutes to go if you've been stubborn up to that point, even at selection?

  44. This is where dynasties start. It is bloody hard to go back to back that's why even the Cats have never done it. Remember the hawks when they lost and had to go to Perth and beat WC? Sometimes you have to do it the hard way. We are carrying injuries but we can do it. Win 3 games. we have the stars that can stand up and make it happen Cmon you DEMONS!

  45. The thing is, he and everybody else who’s tolled the bells of failure pretty hard of late are likely to be correct, because we aren’t the favourites this year, and we’re looking sore and sluggish. But it’s not exactly risky or insightful to suggest such a team won’t win the premiership, is it? I don’t think anybody here deserves an “I told you so” if we don’t win a flag, because it’s just so obviously the likely outcome to any half-interested observer of the game But taking a dump on people who like to think there’s still an outside chance is just a bit unnecessary and boring. Do we really need to lambast people for the crime of being hopeful?

  48. We'll win. The Lions are total bottle jobs and will fold again tonight Performance wise we need to lift. Get some sharpness and rhythm back into our game. No more fumbling Forward pressure please. If i see the ball rebounding out of our forward 50 i'll lose my [censored] ANB to find some kind of form. HE has not been good recently. Salem likewise. We need his accurate disposal off half back if we're to win a prelim or granny I hope Trac's guardian angel let's nothing further happen to his injured leg Need some real momentum before we take on the cats. That'll be a tough ask playing as we are Come on Dees. Produce your best in a final before the faithful. Remind the Cats and Swans what we're capable of See you all at the G later
