You completely undersell Petty. He is as important and arguably in far better form than both Kosi and Jackson. He would be a perfect match up for Gunston who has a fun time destroying us. Petty is so firmly embedded in our starting 18, and we are a far better team with him playing, which is why he was rushed back from injury and pushed Tomlinson out of the team. I will go out on a limb and say that he will take over from May when May retires. He is that good!27 points

1st for tackles. 1st for goal assists. 5th for frees against (behind Gawn, Pickett, Oliver and Joel Smith - and equal with Lever). Baffles me people still try to put ANB down.10 points

I hope Dogga is watching. It’s enough to make him sign on for us for another 10 years.9 points

The daylight second theory is bs. Brisbane are a good team and so are freo. No doubt.8 points

Optus Stadium is half empty. What a bunch of fair weather glory hunters their supporter base is. Not something we could ever be accused of thankfully. Win or lose we don't turn up.7 points

Much as I'm hardly a fan of the Tigers, there is something absolutely delicious about the Eagles being smashed like this. "F#$k them and may they suffer endless pain" are words that come to mind.6 points

Just to be clear, the emergencies are our second row of depth, not our first. Our first row of depth includes TMac, Dunstan, Smith, Bedford and (arguably) Hunt. They're all playing. When Salem, Petty, Jackson, Pickett and Sparrow return, that first row of depth returns to the emergencies and you'll be less concerned. Having four players forced out due to COVID and having the ability to bring in three premiership players in Lever, Viney and TMac, into a side that is 6-0, is a remarkable position to be in.6 points

Didn't age well. As sorry as I am for Jordon that he didn't get a run in the GF, I'm proud of the club for upholding the spirit of this rule on the day. I can understand why the "concussion sub" became a generic medi-sub (because players who pull a hamstring would also just happen to have concussion as well, thereby leading to abuse) but the AFL should have held firm and stated that any player who is subbed out will have to miss the next game and a minimum of 12 days.6 points
-
Didn't Voss use the medical sub recently then say he expected the 'injured' player to play the following week? Scott is building a habit of bringing on a fresh medisub in the last quarter, it helps his aging team. Calculated. Another of AFL 'initiatives' that is slowly watered down by coaches not playing to the spirit of the rules. As it is the team who doesn't have an 'injured' player is disadvantaged by the 'fresher' team. Easy fix: the player replaced by the medsub cannot play the following game, regardless of the injury type.6 points

This game stinks. Can't believe I tipped West Coast, I'm going home. Since I'm already home I'm going to do something else.5 points

Totally agree if you sub the player is out for the next game. You can elect to play one down or sub. It should get rids of the fresh legs subs. As for Voss, seriously 23? That will become 24 because its a disadvantage to lose one of your 23 to injury and so on.5 points

They are not foot ballers they are soccer players Big difference. You see these guys being knocked over my a feather and then writhe on the ground in agony for minutes They appear not to be able to cope with much adversity5 points

In seasons gone by, this would have been someone else's club like Hawthorn or Richmond that greeted the touring international premership team at the MCG and basked in the glory of being the respective champions. ...but now it's us and it's our turn. Still kinda doesn't feel real, but it is true and it's a bloody magnificent feeling. GO THE MIGHTY DEMONS!!! ❤💙❤💙❤💙❤💙❤💙❤💙❤5 points

RIP Ray Manley. Former football manager of the Dees has passed away. A really good Demon and a nice guy. Sincere condolences to family and friends.4 points

ANB hurts most I reckon That run is hard to replace and has been critical to our game plan And the hitting targets when getting on the end is immense4 points

First time poster here. For anyone interested, I have set up a website where I publish a wide variety of AFL stats for the last couple of seasons (among other things). @binman suggested I post the links to my site on this thread, which looks like a great read. Wow Gil. No wonder you have swanned off to the US this week. What an absolute bewdy you have left us. WCE V Toiges, at 8:10 pm whats more. I suspect that, diehard Tiger fans aside, it will hit record low ratings. Well done and enjoy your junket.4 points

Talked to the groundsmen. I asked, "maybe 8 weeks"! He said, "if um". I said,"12 weeks", the reply was, "needs warm weather and some sun". Could be longer. They let me back into Oz after 3 1/2 years. From a track watcher. Go Dees.4 points

It's still a strong team, and you don't really notice who's missing. Probably have a greater effect at Casey, I'm glad we got Dunstan in the off-season.4 points

I had a listen to it yesterday and couldn't agree more. Shane was desperately wanting to stay at Melbourne and even begged the club for it. Our board at the time was a shambles and it was great to hear that Neale Daniher owned his actions and apologised to Shane few years ago. Those thinking he was greedy are absolutel nuffies.4 points

Michell had a day out against us the last time we played in the draw. Newcomb while very inexperienced is playing some very good damaging footy and seems to have a semi decent tank at least for 3 quarters. Worpel a bit hit n miss. Omeara is off at the mo but you never know. If their mid clicks they can be pretty dangerous and they move the ball quickly into the forward line from center under 666. Big incentive with Bruce down there. Rarely misses. They got off to a flyer against the Swans last week who often do that to others at times (at one stage near end of the first it was 34-7 or so) and were right in it up to about the 10 minute mark of the last where they seemed to run out of puff and lose their structure around the ball. We would want to be at our best and have our kicking boots on.4 points

Playing VFL for the first time this week. No match fitness and I'm assuming they won't rush him back as we don't need to. :)4 points

I've got no issue with the rubbish scheduling. You need to win lots of games to earn the Friday night slot. Wait a minute.......4 points

One reason for our pts vs Richmond is because they forced us to play wide to the flanks so we weren't able to position the ball where we prefer i50. I suspect this tactic will be used often against us as it works, to some extent. We still get lots of i50 but accuracy suffers. The tactic works until we wear teams down and play 'our way'.3 points

I'm wary of them. We played horribly against them last year and Breust and Gunston have killed us for well over a decade. And if it rains all day tomorrow who knows what could happen.3 points

Absolutely. Very articulate and collects his thoughts so easily. Clearly loves our Club and the culture we have built.3 points

I don't like Thursday night football for various reasons (see below). But, the AFL and presumably Channel 7, thinks it is a prime slot, so we can't complain about our success being ignored. List of reasons why I don't like Thursday night football: Hard to get to the game on a work day when there is a work day the following day Ditto, school days for kids I struggle to be ready to watch a game on TV on a Thursday night because of other very standard lifestyle commitments - like finishing work, getting dinner ready, etc I'm psychologically not ready for football on a Thursday - football is a weekend activity and there's no way of describing Thursday night as the beginning of the weekend It devalues the Friday night game, whoever is playing It spreads the football out too much with it taking four days to complete a round Related to the previous point, there's too much football. (Die-hard footy watchers will disagree, but the AFL and Channel 7 risk killing the goose that lays the golden egg with football saturation. I know I now watch fewer games than ever before precisely because there are too many games too watch. It's lost it's special status.)3 points

Yes I concur. I even went back last Sunday for a second hold and photos as I was not happy with the photos of myself on the first occasion. What the Cup symbolises is pride, excellence in achievement, and a journey by all supporters like no other which means so much after such a long time. Our players and staff under the circumstances are immortals who will be even prouder for the history making journey that they have undertaken. Achieved in an utterly disorganised season by the pandemic our Cup will even grow in stature by the football public along with history and evolvement of time.3 points

I actually think playing second ruck is good for Weid. It forces him into the action in a physical way and gives him the opertuity to get his hands on the ball a bit and be involved with the play, from which he can build some touch and confidence within games. Additionally, if he can actually make a half decient fist of the ruck duties part, what versatility that could give us during games, even when both Max and Dogga are available. Teams seem to have enough trouble dealing with the change in style between Max and Dogga, what if we could confidently throw Weid into the ruck to mix things up even more?3 points

Relaaax! We're all lucky they even have RAT tests available now. I just went and bought some, but I had to go all the way to the ATM machine first to get some cash money out. Would you believe I forgot my PIN number while I was there and then on the way home a police officer pulled me over so he could run my VIN number as well. At least now I'm home I can watch the grand final replay on my nice new LCD display.3 points

There were errors on both sides . . . neither covered themselves in glory. However . . . I do care about the MFC and Shane. Regardless, he is MFC family. One of us. And for anyone that's been fortunate to meet him, he's a true Dee and a top bloke to boot.3 points
