Recent history suggests that the Suns are always up and about early in the season. A potential banana skin if we're not switched on throughout I think. Looking forward to see how our new look backline perform for a second week.19 points

Jake Bowey should be ineligible for the Rising Star when he already is a star.18 points

Wouldn’t it be ironic if it was Ricky Nixon, but everyone didn’t believe him?12 points

Jackson and Bowey, so glad they’re ours right now. Brilliant games by both.11 points

Good teams get wins when they play poorly. We played very poorly, but fact is we are missing most of our backline, had a short preseason and we’re in unfamiliar humid conditions. Personally, I am very glad to bank to 4 points10 points

Good tough win. Gold Coast are genuine improvers and will push plenty of teams this year.10 points

No one outside our club will ever talk about bowey, or realise just how much we appreciate him. But he is very reliable.9 points

Bowey should be called The Janitor because he’s spent alll night cleaning up everyone’s mess.8 points

Bowey our best and to end the arguement now he gets more hard balls than Caleb Daniel would get in a season. Just sayin8 points

A difference in Neal Bullen from now to 2-3 years ago… he wouldn’t have hand balled and would’ve tried to kick that goal himself. Team orientated play wins premiership8 points

Bowey was poise personified. Can't remember him look flustered or screw up a disposal all career. Trac you champion. So humble and grounded after a 41 possession game, and throws in the cheeky comment about getting Dogga signed up at the end too. Finger on the pulse.7 points

Well I’m off to the game and my back is screwed so the Mrs said why don’t you have a few rums to do which I replied ok for medicinal purposes. 10 rums later (the OP stuff) and a couple of neurophen and I am right to go. GO U MIGHTY DEMONS.7 points

Absolutely sensational moment with Buddy's goal and the crowd running on. Felt like we needed that to remind us that footy belongs to the fans, and an 'old school' footy moment like that did just that. The huge smiles from everyone involved, including Buddy, were unreal. I absolutely loved how it played out and that all the fans seemed to understand the moment. Let's not panic over things that didn't happen and just celebrate how it actually went. As for the Tuohy 'incident'... Are you guys for real? Tuohy had people running all around him, you can see him trying to weave through the crowd and then someone just runs straight into him. Calling it a 'shirtfront' is totally ridiculous. Tuohy was just about standing still when it happened, and he immediately pointed to the blokes wallet after he got up, not exactly the actions of someone who just assaulted someone hey? In both cases, let's not create things that weren't there or freak out over things that didn't happen, was an amazing moment all round and the fans needed it after the last couple of years..7 points

This is exactly the sort of match the dees lose - beat a top team and then drink our own bathwater, get ahead of ourselves and falter the next week against bottom team. Hold on a minute... how did that post from 2019 appear? Weird tech issue alert7 points

Did what we needed to when we had to. GC will beat plenty of sides that aren't as good as us this year.6 points

So you’re able to swipe somebody in the face with the fingers before tackling them now? can’t say I saw that one in the rules. DuhWayne and Brereton arguing that it doesn’t matter if you’re hit in the face, how are these two paid money6 points

For all Gil's huffing and puffing about fines and don't run on the ground, why on earth didn't the AFL have a serious security plan for Buddy . He was lining up for goal for 30 secs. More than enough time to get a squad of fit security guys ready to rush the ground and encircle him. Some swans players tried but his teammates by and large failed in this too. My memory later in the event was seeing Buddy's wife move from elation to possibly a look of major concern for his welfare. A miracle no-one was hurt.6 points

Agree that our defence is ahead of other teams in the comp and that the better teams won’t score as easy against us but still feel we miss to many gettable shots for goal. Can’t find stats for season but as of June 8th last year our set shot kicking was 48% and the worst in the comp. BBB cemented his place in team after that and our kicking in Prelim and GF probably improved our average but it’s still an area I think we will need to improve. We dominated most of the top teams in the home and away last year but poor goal kicking often kept opposition in the game for longer than they should have been and we relied on our superior fitness levels to get the job done in the last quarter.6 points

If this was the worst ‘misadventure’ resulting from that debacle, everyone there ought to count themselves lucky. That circus was an open invitation to injury or even worse.6 points

I thought that was brilliant. Yea there were moments of concern, but it's better to have a life of colour than one of sanitised beige orderliness. In the end people largely didnt push-in too much and there was a bit of drunken revelry, no harm no foul. Great scenes, congrats Buddy6 points

Hopefully we’ve prepared for this game the same way we did against GC last year - by spending 12 hours trapped on a plane. We haven’t dropped a game since that fateful day on the tarmac.5 points

Should win this easily. Just like we should have beaten Adelaide last year.5 points

What I'm getting at is they don't have the legs for the new game plan...good teams will pick them apart. When the pressure came on they stated reverting to the old as you say. ...and whilst old news, it still seems to be new to Brian and his team of commentators along with many other experts. I wonder what excuse Scott has this week for a poor performance? it's obvious Danger, Hawk & co must have had the flu again5 points

The old legs is old news! Selwood gave away 4 frees, the first of which became a down the field free which, iirc resulted in an early goal for Sydney. He did little for his team. All that aside, my post you quoted was about their 'new', much hailed game plan which failed when pressure was applied. They looked stuck between their old and their new method. Neither worked.5 points

Damn it I feel asleep during last quarter and missed Buds 1000. The two games so far this round really show the difference when a team is kicking well. Dogs 13.12 90 v Carlton 16.6 102 Swans 17.5 107 v Cats 10.17 77 I think it’s an area that we will need to improve on if we want to win back to back flags.5 points
