  1. Oh [censored] off Scott, geelong games feel too long because your team is boring to watch. I don't think anyone was complaining that our game on Thursday went too long. Always sooking about something, oh waaaa we have a 5 day break - yes every team has one. I also loved the article mentioning geelongs tough road trips in the lead up to finals without mentioning their last 3 games are in Geelong and they always play in Geelong in the last round. Absolute sook, sick of him whinging all the time. Gerard Whateley is slways pushing this agends too and if Brad Scott takes over Hockings role, look out. No supporters have said they want shorter games, have they? How about listening to your constituents instead of sooking coaches.

  2. He really is an insufferable whining sook. A big part of why Geelong is so unlikable. Just because your team is old enough to double dose on AZ doesn’t mean you get special concessions. This isn’t a pensioners club mate.

  3. Quoting last week.. @Dr.D "And this is why Cody Weightman is better then Kossie Pickett. Weightmans stats vs Sydney: 5 disposals 0 goals and 2 tackles. Let this sink in why this guy is a dead set muppet.

  4. Gerrard Healy has also been pushing the shorter games barrow for a while this season too. Then there are those that suggest we should do away with the medical sub and just go to five on the bench. So many of these issues with the at times putrid look of the game style are because players aren't playing with high enough levels of fatigue. Our game has always been a battle between leg speed, speed of ball movement and endurance and it's one of the things that makes it so attractive in my oppinion. If the AFL were to capitulate to the likes of Heally and Scott and change the length of games in a season I would absolutely spit chips. I actually think the reduced game length unfairly took away an advantage from us last season and was probably a big part of the difference to us making finals or not. Really riles me. Just leave the bloody game alone.

  5. The title of this thread is Murdoch click bait gold. I knew exactly what the story was about, who it was referring to, and how mad it would make me - before I even read the story. Congrats to all involved.

  6. Jack Riewoldt this week: “But good luck if you’re playing against us in the last seven weeks, wherever we sit on the ladder. We believe we’re a bloody good football side. We’ve played really poorly the last two weeks ... but good luck if you’re playing us in the last seven weeks.” Lol I suppose this is all good luck to Collingwood?

  7. Thursday night Dees play great footy to win a big game. Saturday - a full day slowly pottering in the garden followed by slow roasted lamb over a day-long fire pit, with a nice Barossa red. Saints beat the Lions. Watched all 3 sets of Barty playing the stick inset from Czech. Sunday meal at Pratty's Patch celebrating 29 years of marriage. Bulldogs show their pressure weakness again and lose to the Swans. Tiges get done. Feeling like a really smug b**tard tonight with the woodfire on and the Dees on top of the ladder. Look out Mrs Maldonboy!

  9. Me and my wife won an auction for my 2 sons (8 and 6) for their birthdays to meet and greet Petracca and we done it today. He was amazingly generous with his time and was genuinely interested to hear about their auskick and their school, friends and anything else they wanted to walk about. Heaps of photos and a couple of signed gurnseys. Absolute class act, can not speak highly enough.

  10. Haven't the Tiger supporters dropped off. And by supporters, I mean Bikers, people who like the vibe of Swan St and those who decided they'd follow the footy on September 15th, 2017.

  11. The season is actually getting a lot more interesting. Usuallly at this time of year the 8 is set, but the Suns, Saints, bombers, Freo etc are all in form. No easy games. thanks Christ we banked wins early

  12. I was fortunate enough to be on first name basis with Robby Flower, though we really only met a handful of times. He was a courteous and gentle man…the most unlikely looking football genius you could ever meet.

  15. Assuming Richmond and West Coast finish this round in the 8, here's the top 8's record vs the top 8: Melbourne - 6-0 Sydney - 5-2 Geelong - 5-3 Bulldogs - 4-4 Brisbane - 3-4 West Coast - 2-4 Port - 2-5 Richmond - 1-6

  16. Great win to the Swans. They and the saints have done us a huge favour. Makes our win over Port doubly valuable.

  19. I sat next a port supporter last night who commented after Kozzie kicked his goal from the 50, saying that he was soft and had only 2 kicks all night. I gently replied that he had 10 tackles and that was his 3rd goal but thanks for his analysis ???

  20. I think it was Justin Leppitsch on Thursday night that said words to the effect off “All teams will have a dip in form at some stage throughout a season, you can’t be up all the time.” Difference between us and say the Dogs and Lions is that our losses could be put down to mental fatigue or similar. I think that definitely applies to the losses against the Crows and Pies, the loss to the Giants was a combination of fatigue and team selection. But when we’ve come to play our best has been better than that of all other teams currently inside the top 8 of which we have played six, we are yet to play the Eagles this season. Being able to put lower placed teams away by 10 plus goals only counts for so much if that same form can’t get you wins over fellow top 8 sides.

  34. While the game day thread can do your head in, there is an unwritten Demonland law that “whatever happens on the game day thread, stays on the game day thread” and anything you say should not be used against you.

  36. I’m right there with you Onion. 2021 has been a train wreck in the Nasher household too. Kicked it off with my mother’s passing on 4th Jan and that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the year. Feels weird for the MFC to be a consistent positive in my life when all else has gone to shit, for most of my life it’s been the other way around. I understand this won’t go on forever but I’m totally riding it and feeling the love while it does. It’s personal policy to steer clear of Demonland after a loss though.

  37. Huge Joy for Ash, she is all class, just a ripper Australian. I can even live with her as a Tigers supporter. Edit: Now that I can breathe, (was very invested), I imagine watching Melbourne in the finals will be a 100 times as stressful, when she started going backwards in the 2nd and her 1st serve wobbled, my MFCSS was definitely bubbling, as I definitively believe her getting up would be/is a good omen for the club.

  38. Chris Scott laments that the best 22 should be out there playing every week. What he’s ignoring is that he should be trading some of his dinosaur aged best 22 to have a balanced age profile. As an example, the Hawks made some difficult decisions over the last 5 years to do exactly this. You can’t change the rules to suit the list you’d like to have.

  39. With Steve Hocking moving to Geelong CEO and his brother as Geelong coach, there’s two conflicts of interest for Brad Scott to be given the AFL footy boss role. On this basis, lock it in

  42. I have never gone so far as to actually start a topic before despite spending my 10+ years of membership wasting too much of my workday reading Demonland. I was so happy last night, i thought i would take a chance. I would have to say that they seem a bit upset at Port Adelaide over yesterdays game and if anyone thinks Simon Goodwin receives a pasting on this site, they should take note of the Port vitriol directed at Ken Hinkley. A few comments from Big Footy are repeated below and these are some of the gentler ones. Also, when did Alex Neal Bullen turn into an untackleable beast? fu** me dead, we couldn't stop him. I thought he was a spud. I think people really underestimated Melbourne coming into this. They have a very strong defence and an absolutely monstrous midfield. It is staggering that we are so poor in every area. Poorly skilled. Dumb decisions. Not strong enough. Not tall enough. Not fast enough. Unfit. No discernible game plan. sh*t leadership. What the f**k do we actually do at training? I refuse to believe that our players (well most of them anyway) are at the limit of their potential. So we need a clear out of the leadership at the club - chairman, coach and captain. We're just so poorly led at every level. Another club waltzes in with a SeAsOn-DeFiNiNg win. Now that the siren has gone I can safely say, insipid performance and a disgusting display of football. Forwards invisible, the only time I did see them was when they crashed into each other. Umps were no help, gave Melbourne a couple. Sure am thrilled to have played Melbourne into form. We ******* suck, sack ken, sack Bassett, fu** it sack Voss too. Gang sh*t we out. Melbourne are good, we aren’t. Can’t see Melbourne not winning the flag now tbh Who's going to want a 200cm third tall with no presence, can't kick and floats around the field like a fern frond with no impact. Edit: and yes I realise this also describes Ben brown, but he kicked 10 in an afl match. And to think we were out coached by Goodwin. That game exposed all of our weaknesses at once. Biggest of which is our gameplan which relies on the other team not being very good. Too many passengers and credit too melbourne who played the game I wanted us to play. actually looked like our mids and forwards were rubbish. deep defense kept the gap closer. the rest were sh*t. boak sh*t. drew sh*t. everyone forward of full back was dog sh*t. At least Ben Brown didn’t kick 10 goals. That’s a positive I guess. yeah, so you agree, rozzee is sh*t, has the contested ball awareness of a minature poodle. Players: What's the gameplan this week Ken? Ken: Oh, we'll chip it around giving Melbourne time to get everyone behind the ball. Players: So same as usual against the top teams then? We put the ken in Farken Average. I'm sick of crap teams going past us - if the trend continues, bloody Carlton will play in a grand final before we will LOL. Melb brought in the tallest slowest forward line I’ve seen in the past 20 years of football. It was set up for us to run off of them. Almost all of their good players had a night out too. Gawn, Patracca, Oliver, May, Salem, McDonald, you know the guys a good coach would have plans for. Hinkley is a bum.
