James Harmes off to Essendon?

This is one i don't want to see go through.  he is a very important cog in our rotations, and i love him.

That being said, if the reason he is looking around is because the club is in talks with a Tarryn Thomas/Duursma/Finn Callaghan type of player than i'll be sad to see him go but happy with an inclusion like one of those payers.

There is a lot of young talent that played in a VFL Flag this year, that needs Senior Experience

The Demons haven’t been this Proactive in years

Who do you like out of Mitch White, Jimmy Munro or Dunstan to step in to our midfield?

He's a fringe player who from memory is on pretty good coin.

If his departure allows us to improve the list then I'm all for it.  The club will have a plan.

We'll never forget ''that kick'', but Harmes is expendable.

Essendon is a good fit for him. They are crying out for bigger bodied mids. All of their starting mids are relatively small/short

I'm still positive his best position is in the guts, so wouldn't be surprised if he played career best footy in the midfield for Essendon.

As I said during the year I was told the club were going to offload 2-3 of our best 25 this trade period.

Hunt and Harmes were two of those players in consideration.

I’d personally like to retain Harmes, but these decisions are clearly being made for the greater good.

Not up too me Spence. But Harmesy was always Fringe or tagging.
We got worked out this year. Changes are needed

Dunstan may well be very effective in Harmes Spot

That last sentence doesn’t equate to those first three players mentioned

Dont you consider Graham or Hunter ready made? Dow not quite so but in the system 3 years at least and has outside run to burn.

  • Grapeviney changed the title to James Harmes off to Essendon?

Don't mind it. Sparrow and him are nearly identical and the FD clearly favour Sparrow over him. He would provide genuine grunt to essendon and would get the midfield minutes he wants. On our end, we have another spot for a mid with tidier disposal and a bit more leg speed.

Not that I rate Harmes super highly, but Dunstan in for Harmes doesn't improve us.

Dunstan only got a game this year when Viney was out.
He is a Tough nut Dunstan, he deserves a decent crack.
With all these changes it is going to be a very different side.
We got Smashed in 2nd Halves for most of ‘22. The Finals were exactly the Same.

Dunstan and other Casey boys will get a run next year. Bedford and Hunty is why

If prefer not to lose him. He is versatile. I'd like to see him in the ANB role. Tank might need a bit of work but he is better in the air and better much at goal.

ANB roles revolves around pressure and his ability to never stop running.  Harmes cannot do this role

Trade him in a heartbeat for Essendon's second

People complain about our skill issues for but when the Hunts & Harmes' of the world explore their options, the wrist slashing begins

If it did happen to be Essendon’s 2nd, there’s our pick for Grundy.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
