Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This is accurate. As a weekly listener to Gus & Gawny I have always found the "no put downs" story hypocritical. Him and Gus have cheat shots at players weekly :- sometimes subtle, sometimes direct.

Gawn doesn't get [censored] and involved in punch ups in public though. Think you've lost your bearings, pal.

Max has had a rep in his youth for drinking, but he's cleaned up his act

Never said he does.

Just said that the "Gus and Gawny" podcast regularly has little digs at players albeit mostly friendly ones.

To be fair,  I thought it was a good article. On the money and fair to Melbourne.

Like it or not - this is a story.

One of our stars evidently had too much to drink and revealed the disconnect in the group between those that won the flag and those ‘also rans’ that didn’t.

Until we recover from this and host a Prelim at the G this year - no one can talk about our great culture. No more podcast diatribes, no more President lunches groaning on about how great we are. Just sort it out and prove you have sorted it out.

If there was ever a time to let our footy do the talking now is it. No more [censored] around with this and that. We are approaching the business end of the season and we need to put the foot down and work our butts off.

Gawn’s the biggest hypocrite though. His podcast is/was so full of put downs to team mates.

The Burgo episode last year he literally asked Burgo who’s the worst runner out of May, Hibbo and some Port blokes.

He and Gus rubbished Declase last year and we drafted him again a few days later.

Max has to own his own behaviour and the role it’s played in this.

Go listen to the Imperfects podcast. The whole club is on a journey and your criticism is out of date. It was Vandenberg pre-season last year that pointed out to the group that they didn't talk to each other professionally. This is when the buy-in started.  As Max stated today they are 97% getting there and this was a setback. However, if Melk pointed out to May that his criticism of Smith was out of line then there is your proof that the club is changing its culture

Every great club has its challenges and has to go through these trials, the war within is almost a more difficult battle to win than that brought on by our opponents….just think when we were a nothing club, couldn’t win a game no one cared how the players behaved towards each other

I'm sorry, that is a very strange comment. If you took the time to read Gawn's book and watch some of his past press conferences, you'll find that he's very complimentary towards his team mates. He's the kind of captain we need in this situation.

The fact that you're suggesting that Gawn is responsible for what took place last Sunday is bewildering. May and Melksham are both grown men and they're old enough to manage their own behaviour.

I have read and heard in an interview that may was pleased to have Lever return to the team post-injury because it meant he wouldn't spend the whole game yelling at Smith and positioning him on the field.  No surprise that May was baking him.

On the record that May gave Gus a spray in the last 5 minutes of the GF when 70 odd points up because he didn't do the team thing. May is also noted for giving teammates strong advice in games.

If Milk called him out for ridiculing Smith over dinner and drinking, good for him. However, I don't like a former junior boxer taking a swing and an alcohol-affected teammate recovering from a concussion. Max was brilliant today and we are lucky he is our leader. To the critics who say he is a hypocrite listen to the "Imperfects podcast" and you will get some insight into the change in club culture and how they are trying to get better. Max is the first to admit as he did today that he is trying to get better at not taking potshots.

This issue has the potential to galvanize the club really.

We can have a big love in, and people can tuck their egos back in their pants and have an all in love session.

Apologise for indescretions, apologise for the terrible communication and behaviour, and vow to be a better man.

It will be hard to get over for some people but if people can let go and forgive and move forward, this can turn into a big positive for the club internally.

It does really revolve around 1 player who needs to completely let his walls down, become a better human and team mate, and can strengthen our club no end

So I don’t comment much, but the divide that May is causing to the club, should position him to be gone at the end of the year, we should be relying on Lever, Petty and Turner to take the backline forward. May is someone that doesn’t take much notice of anyone.

How about instead we help him stay off the drink and keep our best key back and one of the most important players in the club.

Banter exists. Especially in the sort of Alpha males that make good footy players. Drinking booze often makes people talk more freely and step over the line of what is/isn't appropriate. No doubt as society we need to get better, but im not judging May here for the veral low blows or drinking too much - if I did I would be a hypocrite.

There's never an excuse for resorting to violence and I'm still not clear on who instigated it.

Bit of leaking going on but if I had to guess it’s probably getting to the media indirectly through mates. Just my own conjecture.

It’s amazing how some of these things can come out. I recall living near Melksham a few years ago & being home to have a couch delivered; he was walking around the block loudly having a football-related phone conversation via AirPods that I was able to eavesdrop on (his end) for a minute or so, and I very much doubt he intended for anyone else to hear.

Sounds like May has a sharp tongue when he's drinking

We all have a mate who gets mouthy and boorish when drunk. They are not fun to be around. May needs to take a look at himself and how he behaves when he is on the grog. Otherwise he’ll be drinking alone when his career finishes

Funnily enough, I recall it being reported that Melksham and Hibberd were 2 you’d choose to avoid at all costs on a footy trip because they are just these types when on the sauce (was it Adam Cooney maybe?)

The more I hear about this, the more disappointed I get.
May getting stuck into a younger teammate, senior players like Hibbo not stepping in to stop May from drinking. The whole thing is just rubbish.

Let’s hope it makes us stronger. But right now it’s only made us a bad headline.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
