Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Holy moly , there are some very bitter thin skinned people on this forum. I was simply saying Walker should be looked at as  a possibility, thats all.   Pickett along with Spargo and ANB have struggled. We need to look at all options not jusy Walker. We lack a KPF  if we're  going b2b.

geez.calm down.

No, what you said was ‘we only value and care for indigenous players when they are playing amazing footy. Their feelings are otherwise irrelevant and they should just suck it up while we induct a known racist to get the job done’

If Walker hasnt re-signed yet the MFC would be crazy not to speak to him. He will never play in a GF if he remains a Crow.

At Melbourne he might play in a premiership this year or next before retiring. Cannot ask for heavy coin though. If he wants a shot at it then sign him. I dont care what the indigenous players think. What have they done this season? Not much, thats why we need Walker.

I'm of the view that culture comes first and there is no way we should bring in a player that our indigenous players would not want to play with. This said, if our indigenous leaders support bringing The Tex then he could make a real difference to our success. We would also need to consider which list spot we would use to bring him in and whether this would result in missing a young key position prospect that could be a 10 year but player for us.

This doesn’t get said enough.

People here saying those opposed to him are opposed to second chances, forgiving mistakes etc…

Come on.

With the Lever incident, he potted him publicly once, than rather than learning that this was deeply uncool (especially as a CAPTAIN, mind you) blew his “second chance” and potted him again.

With regard to the other incident, are we seriously to believe that this was a rare “mistake” that he deeply regretted? Or is it the far more likely scenario that at age 31, this was the first time he was caught being a thick-headed racist and spent the previous nineteen years (y’know, the ample amount of time when you’re supposed to learn that you should not ever call indigenous people “black c$&@s”) not bothering to learn these incredibly basic things.

Second chances? Mistakes? Societal-rehab at the greatest club currently in the league? Gimme a break.

He can get his second chance elsewhere, and I’ll be incredibly disappointed with the club if this d-bag is allowed in

The Lever "incident".....*facepalm*

Outrage party.

You have very high standards Mel. You are counting his attack on Lever as a chance? Please - any player that leaves a team 'in the window' has that coming. Just like LJ is about to leave us (supposedly). I'm sure you are not too happy about the prospect of him leaving, as would those within the playing group.

Fact of the matter is, we don't have great depth in the forward line. BBB is looking closer to his end that we first anticipated - max 1 or 2 seasons left; TMac is touch and go as to whether he will be able to completely recover from his injury and Weid is not the prodigal son we all hoped he would be. We are in the window now and probably only for another 3-4 years and trying to develop someone from the draft will take longer (King's are still developing). We need ready made, contested marking type KPF and we need them immediately. Unfortunately for us, there are not many and those < 30 yo will come at a very hefty price (if they are even willing).

My view is we make a play for Tex on a 1 year contract with heavily performance incentivized contract and then look to persuade one of the existing KPF in the comp for 2024. There are a few coming out of contract then.

His two public admonishments, CYB. Which is what I mean when I say that this guy doesn’t exactly seize opportunities to learn from mistakes.

And no, I’m not stoked about the prospect of LJ leaving but I’m talking about the way a captain should behave, not a supporter. I would be shocked if LJ left then two days later Max Gawn is appearing on radio talkback venting his spleen about it.

and at 31 he is not capable of redemption in your ideology? bit of a waste of time punishing him and sending him to re-education courses then, i suppose?

and i'm sure you've never made a racist joke or comment (indigenous or otherwise) in your whole life?

p.s. i'm not really interested in going after him myself, but i'll leave that up to the club

He may be capable of redemption, but I don’t want it to happen at the MFC.

A comment like the one he made? As an adult? Nup.

It wasn’t a “dumb kid” moment. It was as an adult, as the ex-captain of a club. This is precisely why it gets the extra scrutiny, and the harsher judgement as compared to other similar incidents.

And then you’ve got the Lever stuff, the defence of “the camp”….

The guy is made from the purest of [censored].

Edit: the word that was censored was “flag” with an “o” instead of an “a”. Just want to clarify that it wasn’t something cruder.

I’m Sorry? You’re calling me a bigot for identifying someone who has racially abused another player? Who was also captain of the club through the camp that offended the indigenous players and pretty well killed the club culture, certainly killed the coach.

And in what way did he willingly take his medicine? He was made to apologise and do community service so he could get back to playing and making money.

i'm definitely not a fan of taylor walker. i think he's a bogan and a boofhead. i wouldn't be chasing to get him at our club myself, but i would trust the club, if they decided otherwise, to be in a better position than me.

what i objected to was the "known racist" expression or label. racism is a very broad word and covers a very wide spectrum. i wouldn't use the expression "known racist" just on the basis that a person made a racist comment in jest or otherwise, same as i wouldn't brand a person who told a lie to be a "known liar". stereotyping works both ways.

Our forward line really is a shambles at the moment. Walker obviously won’t help this year. If he were to come in, he’d only be a very short-term stop gap solution in our endeavours in trying to win the 2023 premiership.

We have got JVR, but he is no certainty, and the jury on Weid is well and truly out (he ain’t the answer). I’ve felt for a while that Max would actually make a pretty decent fist of it as he goes into the twilight of his career as a forward/ruck, but for that to work, we need to have ourselves a #1 ruck take over Max’s mantle (Dogga, if he decides to stay).

Fight amongst yourself all you like, there’s no way our club touches him with a ten foot pole.

Culture is more important than short term success, believe it or not.

Our club has rich ties with the indigenous community. Bringing in Walker for a few short years would be an insult to indigenous players past and present.

Would be absolutely astonished if the board and Goodwin would do this.

I’d rather back JVR in for the short term than bringing a player that says the things Tex has said in recent history.

Haha of course. Would have been surprised if he didn't stay a 1 club player, but thought a slightly longer contract might have tempted him. For reference, the rumour came directly (not directly to me though) from the team bus after the Geelong game.

He dug himself a hole when it came to his attitude towards Lever. I reckon he'd sooner get delisted after this year or next, than go to another club for 3-4 years, purely out of pride/shame, over dollars/success.

So sure, maybe not the best fit for us culturally. but from a pure technical ability, he surpasses everything we have in our forward 50 currently, hence the interest.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
