Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I believe similarly. Being conflicted is to believe in something so that’s fine. I will always believe that he and the Crows woefully managed his apology however, no matter what colours he wear.

Who cares, those apologies are stage managed by the Club and the AFL. They don’t mean anything.

You get Walker in a room and lay down the law. “This is how it is”

If he is a real [censored], it won’t take long for it to surface

If he is smart he will behave and do his job

Key forward is the hardest position to find, any other position I’d say overwhelmingly you take your chances with state league, delisted, trade offs etc.

But the gap between ‘playable’ and ‘unplayable’ key forwards at AFL level is massive.

That said, I’d probably still go down the pathway of taking multiple dice rolls at low risk solutions and target a long term fix even if it takes a year or two longer.

Tex just doesn’t fit our game style and I can’t imagine we’d suddenly start hitting lead up kicks and asking less defensively and in the contested game for 32 year old Tex

Bailey Fritsch doesn't really suit our bomb it long game style but kicked 60 goals last year.

If you could get Larkey or King or any other established KPF, then we wouldn’t be looking at Taylor.

He's got his second or third chance at Adelaide.

True. But especially when we go with 2 rucks and 2 key forwards Fritsch is rarely asked to do the grunt work.

By kicking to contests at half forward we also create the space Fritsch works in to inside 50.

I would be disappointed in the club if they went after Walker. We can’t talk about supporting our Aboriginal players then recruit someone who made a stupid racist comment.

What if we rehabbed him into a genuine human (and won a flag with him as a pleasant side effect)? Surely being supportive of our indigenous players means changing the behaviour of people who make stupid racist comments rather than refusing to have anything to do with them and let them live in their squalid racist beliefs.

Come on.

With the Lever incident, he potted him publicly once, than rather than learning that this was deeply uncool (especially as a CAPTAIN, mind you) blew his “second chance” and potted him again.

With regard to the other incident, are we seriously to believe that this was a rare “mistake” that he deeply regretted? Or is it the far more likely scenario that at age 31, this was the first time he was caught being a thick-headed racist and spent the previous nineteen years (y’know, the ample amount of time when you’re supposed to learn that you should not ever call indigenous people “black c$&@s”) not bothering to learn these incredibly basic things.

Second chances? Mistakes? Societal-rehab at the greatest club currently in the league? Gimme a break.

He can get his second chance elsewhere, and I’ll be incredibly disappointed with the club if this d-bag is allowed in

That's one way of looking at it, and Walker's not unredeemable. But you could also argue that it's not the job of our Indigenous players (or any Indigenous people) to have to do that education work.

This is only my opinion, so it doesn't count for much, but I would be disappointed if the footy club, who has done so much good work in this area, was willing to overlook Walker's indiscretions.

If Walker hasnt re-signed yet the MFC would be crazy not to speak to him. He will never play in a GF if he remains a Crow.

At Melbourne he might play in a premiership this year or next before retiring. Cannot ask for heavy coin though. If he wants a shot at it then sign him. I dont care what the indigenous players think. What have they done this season? Not much, thats why we need Walker.

The head says he would be a valuable addition on a short-term contract, but the heart says hell-to-the-no. Want that guy nowhere near a Melbourne jumper. If he wants to join the club he can sign on as Lever's personal water boy

You have very high standards Mel. You are counting his attack on Lever as a chance? Please - any player that leaves a team 'in the window' has that coming. Just like LJ is about to leave us (supposedly). I'm sure you are not too happy about the prospect of him leaving, as would those within the playing group.

Fact of the matter is, we don't have great depth in the forward line. BBB is looking closer to his end that we first anticipated - max 1 or 2 seasons left; TMac is touch and go as to whether he will be able to completely recover from his injury and Weid is not the prodigal son we all hoped he would be. We are in the window now and probably only for another 3-4 years and trying to develop someone from the draft will take longer (King's are still developing). We need ready made, contested marking type KPF and we need them immediately. Unfortunately for us, there are not many and those < 30 yo will come at a very hefty price (if they are even willing).

My view is we make a play for Tex on a 1 year contract with heavily performance incentivized contract and then look to persuade one of the existing KPF in the comp for 2024. There are a few coming out of contract then.

Rumour (and I stress, rumour) is Dees have offered a 2 + 1 deal. So 2 years, then option for a 3rd based on meeting KPIs.

Holy moly , there are some very bitter thin skinned people on this forum. I was simply saying Walker should be looked at as  a possibility, thats all.   Pickett along with Spargo and ANB have struggled. We need to look at all options not jusy Walker. We lack a KPF  if we're  going b2b.

Not against that at the right price. It would be hard to get him to relocate for just 1 year, which is fair game.

Wrong If Tex doesn't play in the same style as Tmac I'll go he.

He is a better lead than Tommy but competes and brings chances to other forwards through competitiveness and to himself via marking.

To say he doesn't fit our game style is ridiculous  as a style is developed to make the best use of the parts within.

The prime reason  this post is developing is our desire for our forward line to lead us to another flag and the debate is really going off with some holier than thou DLers showing their collective racist or social views dictating the discussion.

We love Stephen  May because he is our own and is a premiership player damn fine club man and if he was 5 years younger a walk up start for future  Captain or VC but he has sinned twice at least and we have forgiven him.

Reminds you of Tex a bit eh?

For the possible improvement to our forward line the issue is whether you believe Tex can add 2/3 goals to the scoreboard each week without permanently or even remotely  polarising  the Players.

The side issues I believe will with our culture be taken care of.

PS I am not even a Tex fan but if he can better our Club let's believe in him.

Tyson Stengel says Hi!

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
