Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Gawn Knee Concerns

Demonland

Recommended Posts

Majak has been quite good in the ruck at Casey and could certainly fill a need if required. He did mysteriously disappear in one game early which I assumed was some sort of illness that day.

If Max is sore or NQR I don't see  any need to risk him at this stage in the season

If there was one week to rest Gawn, it would be this week against West Coast rather than the following week against North.

WC don't have a recognised ruckman where as North are well stocked for them.

I'd like to think we can get the 4 points this week without Gawn and we need to preserve him throughout the year so he's fit and firing in the finals. A rest this week, the bye week, maybe a late season game and then the pre finals bye should be good to get him through the season.

If he's got a niggle, then rest him.

Give Max the week or 2 off and bring in the weed. For those that think Daw is a capable AFL ruckman then I suggest changing the gear your smoking.

Tmac is most likely to do the relief rucking.  Neither Weid nor Daw have the aerobic ability to get around the ground but Tmac does.  He often wins the time trial pre season.   He might not win a centre bounce but neither would the other 2 consistently.  At least Tmac would be more an extra on baller when the ball hits the ground.

Weid was 2nd ruck against the Hawks when Dogga was out. Weid played as 2nd ruck either last preseason or this preseason (can't remember). He is the backup for the fwd/ruck role so you'd say Jackson to 1st ruck and Weid in as fwd/2nd ruck

As a thought I would give Maxie the two weeks off and have Jackson ruck. T Mc could ruck if needed. I would bring in a small in his place.

Sorry Stinga but you are not up to scratch with the situation. While Majak has been doing a fine job as first ruck at Casey every time Sam has played with him he has shared the tick duties snd did some in the AFL as well. He does do round the ground and all we ask is for a break even situation. Sam is quite ok marking behind the play and going up the ground also and it gets him into the game and not minded by the same defender all day.

Majak  would be fine also as he has trained For the ruck role for a season and half at least.

Both contrary to your comment have the necessary fitness to cover the territory and you will get a support cameo from  Tmac up forward as usual.

Needless to say I reckon BBB might even attend a throwing or two just to mix things up.

We will be fine.

at the end of the day it doesn't really matter much who the replacements (if any) are

we'll win comfortably either way

Exactly. We could play the next two games with no ruck and still smash the 2 bottom sides

Still no word from the club in regards to the results of Max’s scans from yesterday. Whilst I agree we should rest Max this week I am worried we haven’t heard anything and fear that the damage is worse than at first thought.

The club's injury report usually goes up on their website and YouTube on Tuesday afternoons so expect something soon.

The named emergencies were Bedford, Dunstan, Laurie and Weideman. When was Daw made emergency?

Yes, suspect I’m wrong. Was the impression I had, not sure where it came from.

The scans are in.

SCANS have confirmed that Melbourne captain Max Gawn has avoided any structural damage to his knee.

The skipper suffered a knock to his knee during Sunday’s match against St Kilda but was cleared on Tuesday and has been given the go-ahead to train this week.

Not suprised. He was showing no discomfort chairing TMac off the ground. That would not be possible if he had any real damage.
could still be a good idea to give the great man a week off if he has any niggles

Wouldn't be surprised if the Australian Federal Police and Border Force knock on your door and ask about the marijuana they may think that you've been importing and distributing.

I think the best option is in the middle. Play him, but have a plan going in to limit his time on-ground. He keeps continuity in the team, we’re not “sending a message@ that we’re taking the game lightly, Jackson and Tmac just get more ruck minutes, Max has a light load, but if (a huge if) the unthinkable happens and we’re under the pump Max is only on the bench not back in Melbourne.

That's presuming of course his knee is basically ok.

Whatever the match committee comes up with as to whether he plays or doesn’t,  I’ll back them 100%.

The whole team be it the board, the coaches , the medicos and the players seem to pretty much nailed it more times than not.

They look like that they are one united and determined unit that are on a mission. GO DEES!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
