Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Becoming a big fan of Toby Bedford.

Also, anyone else think our forward line looked more dangerous when Weid and Brown were playing up the ground?

It felt like their defenders didn’t know who to go to and we made use of more options.

Missed our 3 best defensive runners and played like it.

Well done to the senior players who stood up.

Some others showed they aren’t the most switched on defensively or weren’t really hitting the contest.

And still we won.

Definitely enjoyed watching that game mostly because of what Hawthorn dished up.

They didn’t die wondering and took the game on. Polar opposite to what happened in the Port game where they went into damage control from the first bounce.

We seemed to have the game on our terms for most of the game, but we never put the foot on the throat. Reassuring in a sense but I’d have preferred a statement type win.

All the players who needed to play well did (Tracc, Oliver and Max) BBB was lucky he was on Frostball as he got 4 goals from 4 frees. They were mostly there but if he wasn’t on as loose a unit as Frosty, he mightn’t have gotten them. Lever wasn’t himself and doesn’t seem as confident this year with his intercept marking.

Bedford was a positive for mine. Some of his one touch pickups were bloody magnificent. He needs a bit more time at senior level to genuinely develop but whether he can get that chance remains to be seen. Jack Viney’s work around the packs was solid and I’ll definitely put him in my votes. His ability to extract and bullock probably highlighted the physical maturity discrepancies between us.

Anyway, I’m happy. Onwards to next week.

That was an outstanding win for the club. We got through despite the enormously difficult circumstances of losing the coach and five players through Covid19. It’s not just the disruption in terms of coaching and player loss but the psychological difficulties of getting through the regime of testing, the uncertainty and all of the issues surrounding the situation over a period of more than 72 hours - we did it and overcame a very spirited opposition.

Congratulations to all concerned at the club on scoring another famous win for the Demons!

Need to tidy up our forward fifty entries as well, we kept sitting it on top of a contest and expected someone to clunk it which didnt look nearly as good hitting up a lead.

I think this game also shows how important Goody is, feel like his influence on the boundary line is a lot more important than we know

All of this.

Well said. And spot on. 14 in a row - and a few people are whining. Hawthorn is very capable, by the way.

Our worst game of the season, plenty below their best and the impact of 5 out with covid was felt

Luckily - Gunston and Breust did not have their usual shooting boots on. 1.6 between them.  only one was a tough shot so would usually be 6.1 and we would be in trouble

Secondly lucky the umps were on our side, we certainly got the random rub of the green today

Lastly, Gawn, Trac, Clarry - no luck involved just the 3 best players I've seen ever play for MFC

Thought Jake Melksham had a great game.

Competed well, won ground ball nicely, used it well, calm experienced head when the ball was pinging about.

Quick reminder to everyone that he isn't done yet and still has something to offer.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
