Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028

I'd stack Trengove's first 2 years up comparatively against Brayshaw's.

I am not however saying I would take him over Brayshaw, but was responding to a post basically saying Tenners was a dud.

It is an interesting comparison though. Both started well, Angus had setbacks through concussion and looked close to finished at one stage. His comeback and development has been remarkable and a joy. Trenners first few years had him on track for something special, even if it would be solid and reliable special. Natural leadership and great work ethic. I saw him at Maroochydore one year in a moon boot and on a scooter still being involved in training, including doing push ups with the group. I rate Angus, but lament Trengove. Worse luck than the Greeks with Achilles tendion!

I never said Trengove was a dud, just that his first two years are ridiculously overrated. He played in a terrible team and his poise stood out, but he wasn't a great ball winner (numbers wise) and he never had explosiveness to his play.

Gus made it very clear that the position he would be playing in 2023 was a fundamental component of discussions he was involved in about his future.

Yes, he was very eager to ensure that he is fine playing a role in the backline and loves the group. But the subtext was text - his role will be a big part of his decision and this may lead to a midfield impasse; Oliver, Petracca, and Viney are frontliners and Sparrow and Harmes are part timers who are limited in other roles. I think someone is going to have to leave to make this work for people.

And it may be Gus…

No he didn't...he posted that Jackson was gone.

Another poster posted that a deal had been agreed and signed with Brayshaw.

That doesn't look so good now.

Yeah that interview was deflating. Talked about position on field being a factor in decision. He also used to language that suggested past tense when speaking about the club, implying mentally that he’s made the decision consciously or not to move on.

I definitely thought he was staying and Jackson was going. After hearing the interview today, talk about position and the subtle language change, it now seems like both are leaving. What a crap result that would be!

Lol whoever said Gus was pretty much a done deal are kidding themselves after that interview.

It's very CLEAR that playing more midfield is a high priority as part of his decision making.

If that's the case then why do we continue to refuse to at least give him that opportunity. I'd much rather him in thr guys then Harmes or Sparrow.

What worries me about this interview is he really doesn't sound too confident in the team and if the ability to be hungry for long enough remains. It does certainly feel like the group is not in synch the way it was last year, but it has been evident in the games... wasn't a great listen tbh

yes thanks.  My mistake , wrong contract and apols to D11.

On SEN Gus didn't talk down the backline position thing, and loves playing with the group.

Just taking his time. Still not a posiitive look for a re-signing.

Still he was correct in his view that this hiatus hasn't affected his game which is true.

Hope he stays

I'm getting desperate now

Put him in the middle, ffs

I think after five concussions, the club is acting in Brayshaw's best interests. Better to be an interceptor than an extractor.  If Brayshaw goes he is displaying a basic lack of self-awareness.  I don't care anymore about these players 'going or staying'.

I don’t like the way he ultimately gives the club  an ultimatum. The selflessness that they talk about is an illusion.

Yeh what is this about? If you love the club and are loyal and enjoy playing footy in a successful team I don't understand the need to look elsewhere... One more concussion and the dude is toast anyway, idk but in the midfield you are more likely to get a knock to the head

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
