....but maybe gus is doing the club a favour by waiting for dogga to sign. if he signs gus may take a lower contract for the sake of another premiership tilt. if dogga doesn't sign then gus can go for what he wants/deserves

I'm only speculating, but if we just follow the money and how much might be available, it could be that Brayshaw's management (which is the same as Jackson's? Jason Dover?) knows that there might be more money in the kitty for Gus if Jackson departs

And what if the management knows what lies ahead?  (or, has a fair idea)

If Jackson does depart, we might be happy to receive draft picks only in return.  And as we know, draftees are on minimum salary's

I assume player managers don’t care much about anything other than their hip pocket - I’m sure they get a % of whatever deal is struck and if there is more in it for them to get their cattle to seperate ranches that’s probably what they will promote - these guys sharing the same parasite is not helpful

I didn’t know they had the same manager.

I don’t think Gus would leave for a few dollars more. That would not be his motivation, nor the advice from his father.

If Gus leaves and I don’t think he will, I would suspect a different reason.

Peeved with him, Clarry committed a year early. Gus is replaceable whereas Luke is irreplaceble in the short term although I have high hopes for Kalani White. in 3 years time.

Players managers are here to stay ... clubs just need how to work them (if that's possible)

I still remember Roos' comment not long after he arrived at the Demons.  Words to effect that the player managers were running the show (at the time)

Jason Dover (who manages Jackson & Brayshaw) is part of TLA Management who have quite a number of clients (including Goodwin, Yze & Garry Lyon I believe)  Stand corrected on that though

Correct.  He has a bunch of dees:

TLA’s stable of Dees included Angus Brayshaw, Ben Brown, Bayley Fritsch, Luke Jackson, Trent Rivers, Charlie Spargo, Tom Sparrow, Jack Viney, James Jordon, coach Simon Goodwin and assistant coach Adem Yze.

Seriously, that’s ridiculous I love Jacko, but he’s replaceable we don’t have to go like for like, rejig and plan slightly and make the most with our trade

I'd be gutted to lose Angus. The odd thing is our good players walked when we were down the bottom, now we are going well and they still might leave.

Our best irreplaceable players have re-signed.

I'll easily cop Jackson leaving to be honest, but I think Gus leaving would hurt deeply then ever.

Not so much front an on field perspective but off field in terms of culture and setting the standards. Gus is one of our leaders who typify's that team first attitude.

Please sign Gus....

It’s conditional. On the condition we win the flag I could cop both leaving. If we don’t I couldn’t stomach Brayshaw leaving. Would really set us back culturally.

Interesting they manage the coach and assistant coach.

Yep I'm in the Gus first camp as well. Gus's contribution, apart from his obvious leadership is that he has saved games many more times for us than what Jackson has won for us.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
