Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Absolutely no way Tomlinson gets dropped on his current form. He's in great form and playing his role really well. We've worked hard on the Lever-May-Tomlinson combo and it's working. I like Petty but right now he's cover for those three.

I cannot believe the posts here discussing dropping Tomlinson.

The defence is now solid and it includes him, plus he has versatility to play wing if needed.

As he said post match last Sunday - The hawks kicked 27 points in the first 1/4 , then 27 points for the rmeining 3 1/4's.

Tomlinson is a key to those sorts of results and we now have a premiership-standard back 6 or 7.

Gee I hope May plays.  No disrespect to Petty, I think he'll be a fine key defender, but I reckon May's inclusion takes this game from 30/70 to closer to 50/50 .  Richmond's tall forwards are a handful, bringing in one of the comp's best big defenders is huge IMO.

I believe we have the talent to challenge the top teams like the Tiges, just hoping we can hold our nerve in the big moments. Richmond are such a good team, they will keep cool heads knowing they have been there and done that.0  Hopefully the knew-found maturity and belief in our system can get us over the line.

PS don't you love how the media jump on us when we're winning then all of a sudden this translates to "Demons supporters have blown the lid off"?  Very annoying, when the vast majority of Dees supporters will keep the lid on until the final siren of the GF if we were to make it.

Watching the game against Hawks, ANB had one kick to Brown on a lead which was effective, every sing thing he did other than that was a clanger, sorry but in my mind he is one of the worst AFL footballers going around, I don't care how good he can run or how much pressure he applies off the ball. Has to be dropped!

tigers fans say the same thing about jason castagna

he's a three-time premiership player cos of the pressure that he puts on and workrate that he has

while he is playing like he is he most definitely won't be dropped

I'm no medical expert but that has to be some kind of modern miracle for May to only miss one match. Absolutely delighted.

May back in is huge.

Looks like the Weid will get the nod over BB. Fritsch unlikely.

They are big in's for us particularly May. Petty grew into the game last week but Riewoldt and Lunch are a completely different proposition to the Hawks forward line.

My confidence is growing

From the AFL article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/598967

... it will be May and Weideman in.

Fritsch not right.

No Brown for the fact that we cannot handle altering our setup so radically in one game.

A really mature decision.

I guess M Brown and Petty out.

Fritch is meeting the doctor on Friday and a decision will be made then. Burgess sounded like he was better than 50/50.

The coverage of the Hawks game flashed to May in the stands.  I was amazed at how well looked- just a bit of shiner remained

BTW Pennant was yours a booze associated injury?

I agree.  I'm a TMac fan and think he has many attributes but he doesn't have the footy smarts and composure that Brayshaw generally has.  So they both keep their current roles.  I don't see the value of moving players out of roles that work well for the team.

I agree also Dee 56 and Luc Hero.

Tommy Mac is not suited to a wing nor is our team. He was placed there in 2018 to get a start on his mobility as I understood it.

Now 3 years on he has trained a bit on the wing pre season and he runs along the wings any way BUT he is not a traditional winger in Any way shape or form. Tomlinson also  did play there but he is and our team balance far better to use him as our 3rd tall defender.

Either can play a cameo on the wing if necessary but why change it if it is not broke?

So much  so when some D/Lers  offer changes or selections with Tmac on the wing I now just laugh and move on and disregard that post.

We need Tmac forward and I think 2018 and 2021 are prime evidence that when he is on his game we are very hard to beat With him at CHF/FF clunking marks and converting goals.

He is a big unit with endurance some pace reasonable flexibility and kicks well ( straight) and is actually a bloody good AFL footballer. Above all he is intelligent a team man and as fine as a young man in our Club who knows what the game is all about.

Thats why I was so bullish about his come back this year and our chances if he returned to somewhere near 2018 form. Coincidentally Kossie ANB Spargs LJ Gawny and others have also improved and that's why we have scored all winning scores in the first 5 Rounds.

We are still a work in progress but our full squad is nearly with us to give this season a serious shot at some glory in September.

I’m going BBB over Weideman at this stage.

I do see room for them both at some stage.

I agree with the latter and that’s why I would pick Weideman. For the 7 goals - he gets the call up on that performance.

The problem is that the coach just LURVES ANB & Melksham & they both get treated better than some of the other players.

Goodwin on May (https://au.sports.yahoo.com/demons-ponder-forwards-set-regain-010729404.html):

"He's got the clearance from the surgeon around his eye, so he's really confident in that," Goodwin said. "He's got to get through some concussion protocols in the back end of the week, but he's really confident. "He's trained really strongly through this little period, the last four or five days. "We're confident that he's in a good position and will be available to play and we're going to need Steven. "He's a really good leader for us and they've got some really dominant key forwards in the game."

Whichever tall comes in will need to work wonders with Jacko and T Mac in regards to leading patterns, opening space and spreading the Tiges defence.

If we fail at that, I cant see us winning no matter our midfield dominance.

If our players enter forward 50 as they did for three quarters against Hawthorn and our key talls lead to bad spots, we'll be punished.

Need to plan and execute. Can't rely on our sheer talent to get us over the line against this mob.

Not to stressed about Melk getting a game, skillful and has the runs on the board, more often than not if Melk has the ball in his hand I'm confident something good will happen, ANB on the other hand, misses targets, fumbles, gives frees, gets in the way of other forwards ect ect.

Who comes in and who goes out for the three ANZAC Eve match against the Tigers?

Ins: Fritch, May, B.Brown, Wied.

Outs: M.Brown, Petty, Jordan & ANB.

Rest Jordan’s body in the 2’s for a few weeks or keep as the sub.

Move T.Mac to the wing.

Weid deserves the call up.  You have to reward form and he was amazing. Another VFL hitout or two wont hurt Brown..  dont forget we have signed him for 4 years.  Get him right now and reap the rewards for a long time.

Agree. Weid banged the door down on Sunday and it will not hurt to ensure we get BBB up and firing. He has missed a lot of footy so another game at Casey will be good for him. Keep Fritta out also to ensure that hand is cherry right the following week.

Therefore it is May for Petty and Weid for Brown.

Please Melbourne Football Club do not play too many talls just because we have a few good ones.

While a W is always nice, an L won't kill us and may highlight some of our deficiencies in time to address them by the business end.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
