May will not play, no need to rush him back in

Weideman deserves to get his guernsey. No need to rush Benny, just miles in his legs

Don't like too many little blokes against the Tiges, but who says we cannot rest players against the Tigers . Give them something to think about also. By Jove's, it would look rather good though if we showed them up for lack of pace

It amazes me the amount of players names in and out by people with no correlation to the roles they play,. Brown will play another week in my view, Weid demands to be picked based on today. Sounds like May is a very good chance to play.

Out: M Brown, Petty, Sparrow

In: Weid, May, Bedford (sub)

May for Petty if he's right. If not we have a decision to make on whether Petty stays for the structure or if we roll the dice with Lever on Riewoldt and bring in Jetta (or total smokey D Smith). Or Brayshaw to half back and bring in another wingman (Vanders?).

I kind of like the idea of sneaking Vanders back in for a special guest appearance and just inviting him to take as many bodies as he can.

Mitch Brown out for B Brown or Weid. Good luck to selectors making that decision.

Fritsch I doubt we be right. If he is then we've got a tough choice to make. Possibly Melksham goes to the sub role, otherwise Jones, Jordon, Melk, Fritsch and Jackson can share minutes on the wing and Gus can go to half back as above.

ANB has been the usual default name for changes every week, but I reckon he had a great game today - becoming very important

His first quarter stank. Missed tackles, bodied off the ball, kicking out on the full, and generally just messy. But much like Rivers and several team mates he didn't drop his head and rallied well.

Anyone dropping him after the first 3 weeks has no idea and whilst today wasn't great he's still surely very unlikely to be dropped.

Agree - shocking first half, but really worked into the game after that and became an important link player

This is a tough one to answer. I would go full bore on this if possible. In May and Fritta with the weed and Ben Brown as well. Out would be Petty ( unfortunate as good second half ) M.Brown Jordan and Sparrow. Me;ksham to be the sub as Sparrow will need game time but I prefer him over Melksham but I know it won't happen.

I would definitely be dropping Jones after his 300 but he has to get it.

Gut feel is they'll give BBB another week to get cherry ripe. Don't like taking ANB out at risk of losing some of the pressure game we've been building, but thought he was fairly poor today. Alternatively think Jordon may be the one to go.

Have a feeling Maysie will be back in for Anzac Eve, might be a week too early for Fritta, just get his hand cherry ripe.

Cannot have Spargo and Jordon in at the expense of ANB.

IN. WEID BEDFORD SPARROW

OUT. MITCH BROWN (unlucky) JORDON SPARGO

goody basically confirmed in his presser that jones will play his 300th this week (correct me if i'm wrong anyone).

Don't you worry about Jonesy, he'll get himself up, lift to the occasion and play a big game, i can feel it!

Drop Jones? FMD. What better extra motivation for the boys to get over the line for Nate’s 300th?

I would take out Jordon, M. Brown and ANB for BBB, The Weed and Bedford. Sparrow stays as sub.

And here in lies the problem. We shouldn’t use/need a milestone game for extra motivation. I’m not a fan of themed games either. I’d love to know the stats regarding clubs that lose such games and their performance the week/s after. Look at the Saints and the Spud Frawley game against us. I’m not saying Jones should or shouldn’t play, just don’t use his 300th as the motivation. We should need no more motivation than another win puts us another step closer to a potential top 4 finish and the ever elusive flag.

Mitch Brown can play both forward and back and I believe at some stage today he swapped with Petty in the second quarter when we were under the pump.

Weid can come in for Petty. I would be wary of Fritta with a busted hand and May with a fracture around his eye playing. On todays form Bedford may be a chance but the Box Hill opposition wasn't much. Richmond game will be a huge pressure game.

Keep the changes to a minimum

I’m not against dropping Jones for next week as he was a liability today against a poor side.

But no way do you bring him back the week after to celebrate his big milestone at a wind swept grave yard in front of 6,000 people.

If you listened to Lever post game, he and his team mates are absolutely pumped for Jones’s 300th next week, so that’s good enough for me.

I think Weid to replace Mitch Brown. The club has an obligation to play him after 7 goals in the VFL but Weid also has an obligation to step up next week in his 6th season as a top 10 draft pick.

May for Petty.

Goodwin suggested that Fritta has a bunch of hurdles to jump to play next week, so he might just miss the boat.

BBB to debut against North.

Why even bother suggesting to drop Jones? It’s not happening.
He deserves his 300th and do not underestimate what a massive lift our players will get from this either.
It is also Dusty’s 250th.

Weid comes in for Brown and clearly if May is fit he is an automatic in. Maybe for Petty although I feel that would be harsh.

Would like to think that one of May or Fritsch could be ready again - though the shorter turnaround doesn't help.

You can't not put Weideman in, but Ben Brown was playing more up the ground apparently, so goals not everything. Hard to see us having Jackson, Tom Mac, Weideman and Ben Brown in the same team, especially as you'd have to drop a smaller forward to do so. But ...?

But playing them all could be a point of difference that the Tiges can't cover...

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
